I love the show "I am Jazz!" The show is written in such a way to help people understand about what it's like to be trans-gendered. It displays the many difficulties, stress and anxiety that trans- gendered people experience everyday of their lives. They worry if their family and friends will accept them. They wonder how they can fit-in with society to survive in this world of ours. Will they be able to go to school or get a job without being harassed or bullied? It was very unfortunate that you received negative comments and death threats by those that are ignorant or because of their religious beliefs. But that is the world we live in today! If we are forced to live our lives in fear or hide from the negative comments and threats because of our gender identity or gender orientation, than we will never be truly happy and free! I think Jazz's parents are very loving and supportive and wish other parents were like them too! I think that they should read the reviews...all of them with Jazz and explain that the show "I am Jazz" will help change those negative comments into more positive ones! Love and protect Jazz, but don't over protect. She needs to know what the "real" world is about. Also, there is the issue of who she wants to love when she gets older. To me, the human body is a shell, it is the person inside that body is who we should love regardless of the physical attributes of one gender over another. All people are human and all humans need to be loved!
Jazz and her generation will make it happen, and the show "I am Jazz" is just the beginning! I'm a parent too and I worry about my son everyday. But we need shows like yours to help educate society to accept people, no matter what gender they are or identify with. Many Kudos for the courage and strength from Jazz, her parents, family and her friends. I thank TLC and it's writers and the rest of the cast and crew in making this show possible! Keep "I am Jazz" on the air and produce more shows like this! Your programming can really help our society! TLC, Jazz or her parents are more than welcome to contact me about my comments! Thank you!
