The crew drives their truck through the front of a closed jewelry store at night, then smash the jewelry cases and take the jewelry. No real jewelry store leaves their merchandise under display cases when the store is empty; it is removed every night and put in a safe, then put back out on display the next morning.
J is a minor whose mother died in their home of a drug overdose. He would have been placed in foster care by Child Services if there was no blood relation to take custody of him. Even if there was, Child Services would have done a background check before his grandmother was allowed to claim him.
There is a scene where the Pope character interrupts J while J is taking a shower. After Pope asks J's help in stealing a car, J steps out of the shower and puts a towel over his shoulders. The reflection of a female crew member is visible in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. She is shown holding a video camera.
When J is in the shower and preparing to get out, he reaches for a towel and a cameraman can be seen squatting in the bottom left of the screen inside the shower with him.
