Christina Ricci is detailing just how far Hollywood has come in recent years.
The “Yellowjackets” star revealed that she was once “threatened” by a production over not being willing to do a sex scene in a certain way. The two-time Emmy-nominated actress applauded the industry for changing over the years, especially when it comes to working with her young co-stars on hit series “Yellowjackets.”
“It’s really great. Us older ladies talk about it all the time,” Ricci said during “The View” (via Entertainment Weekly), seeming to reference core co-stars Juliette Lewis, Tawny Cypress, and Melanie Lynskey. “It’s amazing to see that they don’t necessarily have to go through the things we had to go through. They’re able to say, ‘I don’t want to do this sex scene,’ ‘I’m not going to be naked.’ They can set boundaries for themselves that we were never allowed to do.

The tightly-woven mysteries at the center of Yellowjackets are about to be exposed.
Showtime dropped the official trailer for Yellowjackets Season 2 on Thursday, and it looks like a stellar follow-up to the first season.
The trailer is chilling and offers excellent insight into what to expect in the coming episodes.
It also features Florence + The Machine's cover of "Just a Girl," which was inspired by the show.
"Once upon a time, there was a place called the wilderness," we hear in the trailer.
"It was beautiful. But it was also violent and misunderstood and it waited and waited to befriend whoever arrived."
"The whole time, there was some darkness out there," adult Natalie (Juliette Lewis) says.
"I thought we left it there when we were rescued, but now I realize, we brought it back with us," adult Lottie (Simone Kessell) says in the clip.
We also hear Misty and Natalie speak about Lottie.

Yellowjackets was a breakout hit during its first season, thanks to a compelling mystery and fine acting.
Showtime celebrated Friday the 13th by dropping around a minute of footage from Yellowjackets Season 2.
Amongst all the mystery and darkness in the trailer, we get our first glimpse of Elijah Wood, and damn, he makes quite the entrance.
"Kidnapping, cults, death … your friendships are a little more complicated than most," says Wood in character as Walter.
We also see Juliette Lewis' Natalie getting hypnotized, possibly as a means to remember what happened.
It's a compelling trailer. It doesn't give too much away, but it does give a lot of insight into what to expect.
The second season will premiere starting Friday, March 24, on streaming and on-demand for all Showtime subscribers, before making its on-air debut on Sunday, March 26 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt.

When Yellowjackets Season 2 touches down on Showtime, viewers will meet an aged-up Vanessa "Van" Palmer.
New photos released this week show Lauren Ambrose in the role of present-day Van.
Van will have a more prominent role on the sophomore season of the red-hot drama series.
Liv Hewson, who plays the teenage version of Van, has been upped to series regular.
Ambrose will also be a series regular, meaning we'll be delving deep into what really happened all those years ago.
Van was a key player throughout the first season, but there were plenty of unanswered questions, which we can only assume will be answered on Season 2.
Ambrose is best known for starring for five seasons in the critically-acclaimed drama Six Feet Under, which earned her two Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
She can currently be seen in M. Night Shyamalan’s psychological thriller series Servant, for which she received a Critics Choice Award nomination.

Season one, which earned a 100 score on Rotten Tomatoes and received seven Emmy nominations, averaged more than 5 million weekly viewers across platforms and was the second-most streamed series in Showtime history. Directed by Liz W. Garcia (The Lifeguard) from her own original screenplay, the film follows Florida party girl Rex (Roberts), who turns out to be the only hope for the NASA space program after a fluke puts her in training with other candidates who may have better resumes, but don’t have her smarts, heart, and nerve, the synopsis reads.
Previously announced to star alongside Roberts are Poppy Liu (Hacks), Gabrielle Union (The Inspection), Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy), Colombian pop star Sebastián Yatra, David Foley (The Kids in the Hall), and Desi Lydic (Awkward). Additional casting includes Kuhoo Verma (Plan B), Yasha Jackson (The Flight Attendant), Troy Iwata (Dash & Lily), Andrew Call (Z: The Beginning of Everything), and Josephine Huang.

Christina Ricci is arguably one of the most successful former child actors to have gotten their start in the 1990s, as she has maintained a consistent career since debuting in the film “Mermaids” at the age of 10. Having already played starring roles on the 2010s TV series “Pan Am” and “Z: The Beginning of Everything,” she is now a regular on Showtime’s “Yellowjackets.” Her portrayal of Misty Quigley, a middle-aged nurse who survived a plane crash as a teenager, has given her a popularity boost and could now earn her an Emmy for Best Drama Supporting Actress.

Christina Ricci has been working in Hollywood since she was 10 years old, and after decades onscreen, the “Yellowjackets” star devised a unique tactic to de-stigmatizing female nudity onscreen: Just stay naked off-screen.
During Variety’s Actors on Actors roundtable, Ricci revealed to “Euphoria” actress Sydney Sweeney that she was most uncomfortable when other people were uncomfortable, so Ricci made her nudity a bit of a joke.
“Once I had to do a movie where I was naked pretty much the entire time,” Ricci said, presumably referencing 2006’s “Black Snake Moan” where she plays a sex addict opposite Samuel L. Jackson and Justin Timberlake. “The thing that made me more uncomfortable was other people being uncomfortable with me being naked. So what I did, and you probably wouldn’t be allowed to do this now — I just stayed naked. I was like, ‘Don’t make me feel weird, like I’m...

Almost every long-running video game franchise has a signature weapon that shows up in almost every entry. For God of War, that weapon is the Blades of Chaos. For Half-Life, it’s the crowbar. For The Legend of Zelda, it is most certainly the Master Sword.
Also known as the Blade of Evil’s Bane, the Master Sword is one of the most frequent recurring faces of the franchise. Even though most Zelda games star different characters, all of whom are named Link, the Master Sword is the same weapon throughout. This has, unfortunately, resulted in some retcons and contradictory origins since the Master Sword has technically existed longer than the Legend of Zelda timeline. Whenever one entry provides an origin story for the weapon, a sequel eventually comes along and delivers a different tale.
So what is the true origin of the Master Sword? Who forged the only weapon...

For many older gamers, the Nes was their first exposure to digital RPGs. Earlier consoles just weren’t powerful enough for the larger worlds and more complex systems the genre demanded even at that time, and while RPGs have a long history on PCs, home computers were still somewhat uncommon in the ‘80s.
Of course, Nes RPGs were a far cry from the titles we see nowadays. There were no real cutscenes, combat was either turn-based or featured very simple real-time systems, and storylines were nowhere near as complex as what we see now in modern BioWare or Square Enix games. Still, many of the games released for Nintendo’s first home console hold up remarkably well.
While what constitutes an RPG is certainly open to debate, for this list, we tried to narrow it down to games that emphasize character growth through experience or equipment customization. Keeping that in mind,...

There are two kinds of heroes in the world of video games: those who talk, and those who don’t. Some protagonists start their lives as quiet characters and eventually graduate to speaking roles, but The Legend of Zelda’s Link has always remained the strong, silent type.
While voice acting has become the norm in video games, Nintendo’s landmark series The Legend of Zelda has primarily stuck to its non-voiced roots. The franchise only recently started exploring voice acting with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild via voiced cutscenes, and yet despite all of the characters talking around him, Link never utters a word in the game except for the usual grunts of “Hyut!” and “Hya!” While Nintendo is more than willing to get with the times when it comes to the rest of the Zelda cast, Link is seemingly stuck in the past. However, the...

It’s been 30 years since The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past was released in North America, and every day since the game’s debut has only made it easier to appreciate the many ways it remains the definitive Legend of Zelda experience.
Mind you, that doesn’t mean that A Link to the Past is the best Zelda game ever or the game that invented all the concepts that set the series apart. In fact, I tend to see at least a few other games get placed above A Link to the Past on fans’ personal franchise rankings, and it’s hard to deny that A Link to the Past was the “Super” version of the original Legend of Zelda in many ways.
However, there are quite a few reasons why A Link to the Past remains the quintessential Zelda experience three decades after its Western launch helped change everything.

In order to make something “special” for fans, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 has been delayed until 2023.
“Please don’t shoot the messenger. The Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been pushed to spring 2023, Nintendo announced in a brief video today. ‘We previously announced that we were aiming for a 2022 release for this game,’ Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma said. ‘However, we have decided to extend our development time a bit and change the release to spring 2023. For those of you who have been looking forward to releasing this year, we apologize.'”

Exclusive: This is the news Addams Family fans have been hoping for since the new Netflix series Wednesday was first announced — Christina Ricci, the actor most closely associated with the title character, will be a major part of the live-action show from Tim Burton.
Ricci, who starred as Wednesday Addams in the Barry Sonenfeld-directed 1990s The Addams Family feature franchise, is a series regular in Wednesday, which is headlined by Jenna Ortega in the title role, Deadline has learned.
Details about Ricci’s role are being kept under wraps to protect the surprise for fans but I can reveal that she plays a new character and not an older version of Wednesday. Ricci has been quietly working on Wednesday for months; filming on the MGM-produced series is slated to wrap in Romania at the end of the month.

After years worth of meme-tier hype that started before we really even knew anything substantial about the game itself, Elden Ring is almost here. You may think that there’s no way the game can possibly live up to that almost absurd level of anticipation after all this time, and…well, you’d be right. According to most of Elden Ring‘s early reviews and the game’s current Metacritic score, it absolutely exceeds the hype.

While every gamer who grew up with a Snes will waste no time telling you about those nights spent with Zelda, Mario, and all of the console’s other all-time great games, every gamer knows that the true Snes experience involved suffering through some of the absolute worst games ever made.
The Snes wasn’t the last home of truly bad games (not by a long shot), but it was the centerpiece of a particularly…special era for terrible games. Developers were not only still trying to push barely playable (if that) games on unsuspecting consumers but some were bold enough to try to make technically ambitious games that even the best studios in the world couldn’t have pulled off. The result is some of the biggest swings and misses you’ll ever see.
These aren’t the Snes games you’ll remember most fondly, but I hope that...

Nintendo franchises tend to revolve around a small cast of characters who return for countless adventures. Every Super Mario game stars the same Italian plumber twins, Mario and Luigi, and Metroid titles all feature the same intergalactic bounty hunter, Samus Aran. If The Legend of Zelda followed the same logic, every entry would detail the continuing adventures of the same exact protagonist. The truth is a little more complicated.
For those who aren’t well-versed in The Legend of Zelda, players take control of a hero named Link in every installment. Even though art styles shift between games, every Link is a young boy (or sometimes man) in a green Peter Pan-like tunic. While Link swings his sword in his left hand and holds his shield in his right, he occasionally swaps his dominant hand. Moreover, every entry sports a fairly stable roster of weapons. Sometimes items are added or removed to mix things up,...

The Legend of Zelda is arguably one of the five most famous franchises in gaming history, but the one aspect of this series that never seems to get enough love is the quality of its storytelling.
Maybe it’s because the Zelda timeline can sometimes be a confusing mess, but the stories in Zelda games are rarely talked about and appreciated the way that we talk about and appreciate the best narratives in other fantasy adventures. Yet, if you take the time to play through this series and really focus on their narratives, you’ll find that the best Zelda titles often offer thrilling tales that challenge you with their complex continuity while wrapping you up in a grand adventure that feels strangely comforting no matter which wild directions this series goes in.

While I wouldn’t go so far as to say that 2021 has been a banner year for hard video games, anyone who seeks out difficult games as a cathartic escape from difficult times certainly won’t be disappointed by this year’s selection of controller smashing, monitor breaking, soul-shaking experiences.
In fact, it was an especially interesting year for difficult Triple-a and AA games. From Metroid Dread to certain difficult settings in Resident Evil Village, it really does seem like more and more major studios are starting to explore the viability of at least adding optional difficulty modes to their major releases designed to make some of the year’s biggest games as punishing as possible.
Of course, many of the year’s hardest games can still be found on the indie scene where smaller studios continue to argue against the idea that they just don’t make hard video games like they used to…...

Exclusive: Deadline has the first exclusive tracks from Marcelo Zarvos’ A Journal for Jordan score, which is set for release tomorrow via Sony Music Masterworks—ahead of the Sony Pictures title’s release in theaters on December 25.

In the 35+ years since the Nes changed the video game industry, we’ve celebrated pretty much every aspect of the revolutionary console (including that strange time when we all thought blowing air into an Nes cartridge could fix them). However, it’s truly remarkable to look back at the Nes’ incredible library of all-time great titles and realize that so many of them haven’t gotten a proper sequel.
While it’s amazing to think that the video game industry has refrained from making sequels to some of these games given the sequel/reboot/remake culture that we live in, the fact of the matter is that there’s just something about each of the games on this list that make them tough sells for a revival. Some were too weird, some are stuck in licensing hell, and some have simply fallen through the cracks of history despite being exceptional.

Exclusive: Christina Ricci has signed on to play a supporting role in The Dresden Sun, a cyberpunk indie from writer-director Michael Ryan, which also stars Samantha Win.
The film observes as a heist goes south when a brilliant, principled mercenary with a traumatic past works with an insider to steal a valued asset from Peredor Corporation called “the sphere.” The C & Earth corporation, vying for global dominance, seeks to find a solution to an otherworldly technology via a scientist’s project. Meanwhile, a financial analyst, who despises his job at the powerful investment firm Mutual One, finds himself caught between deadly corporate rivals, financial fraud, and technological espionage, and is ultimately forced to run from a psychopathic military contractor.
Ricci will play Dr. Dresden Corliss, an inventor of a cosmic technology, who grieves over the death of a loved one.

In the impressive history of The Legend of Zelda, few of the franchise’s dungeons have inspired as much debate and speculation as Twilight Princess‘ Snowpeak Ruins.
Nestled near the peak of the mountain it shares a name with, Snowpeak Ruins’ prominent placement in Twilight Princess‘ world and its somewhat haunting exterior make it one of those Zelda dungeons that just begs to be explored. Once you step inside, though, you’ll soon discover that nearly everything about this dungeon defines series’ standards. Nothing about Snowpeak quite makes sense, and that feeling of uncertainty it almost immediately inspires only grows stronger as you explore it further.
What is Snowpeak Ruins? Who built it, and why it is here? It’s when you try to answer those questions that you start to appreciate how the mystery of Snowpeak Ruins makes it a truly special part of The Legend of Zelda‘s considerable legacy.

Exclusive: Netflix has opted not to renew geopolitical espionage thriller Hit & Run, co-created, executive produced and headlined by Fauda’s Lior Raz, for a second season. The news comes a month and a half after the release of Season 1, which ended with a major cliffhanger.
Hit & Run, which also starred Sanaa Lathan, Kaelen Ohm, Moran Rosenblatt and Gregg Henry, was well received by critics and viewers, with 70%+ ratings from both official reviews and audience feedback. But the sprawling drama, whose first season, impacted by the pandemic, filmed in New York and Israel, is expensive.
Because of the Covid-related industry shutdown, the nine-episode Season 1 took three years to produce. It debuted August 6 and broke into Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10 the following week at No. 8. It was the thriller’s only appearance on the overall weekly chart, which other Netflix originals like Outer Banks and Virgin River recently topped.

The world of Legend of Zelda fan theories is usually a pretty wild place (some fans still believe that Link and Zelda are brother and sister), but I’m not sure if I’ve ever heard a Zelda fan theory as crazy or amusing as the idea that the real villain of The Legend of Zelda franchise is Link himself.
Now, it’s possible that you’ve heard variations of this story before that essentially amount to “Link is occasionally a bit of jerk.” We’ve probably all joked about his fondness for smashing pots and swiping at chickens at one point or another, and it’s certainly amusing to think about how some of Link’s basic actions probably would ruin a Hyrulian Npc’s day.
This isn’t that, though. This particular theory is a truly wild deep dive into the Zelda universe that, at the very least,...

The first television project from Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, two of the producers behind “Narcos” and “Narcos: Mexico,” is nearly here. The duo’s “Yellowjackets” series is slated to premiere November 14 on Showtime.
The premium network recently revealed the trailer for the upcoming 10-episode survival drama, along with the official description:
Equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story and coming-of-age drama, “Yellowjackets” is the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.
The series’ trailer aptly plays on the disparate themes of “Yellowjacket.

In 2019, a family of filmmakers—John Adams, Toby Poser, and Zelda Adams—burst onto the scene with The Deeper You Dig, which premiered at that year’s Fantasia Film Festival. Now, they have recently completed another indie horror project, Hellbender, which just celebrated its world premiere at the this year’s Fantasia as well, a wholly impressive feat. A badass blend of witchy horror and family drama, Hellbender stars Toby Poser and Zelda Adams as two women living in isolation, harboring a dark and powerful secret that threatens to tear them apart.
Recently, Daily Dead had the opportunity to speak with these three incredibly talented filmmakers and during the interview, the trio discussed the inspiration behind Hellbender, the joy they feel while working on films together, showcasing their killer music skills, and more.
Hellbender was recently acquired by Shudder and will make its debut on the platform sometime in 2022.
