Hollywood funnyman Will Ferrell is very serious about making sports history in the trailer for Ferrell Takes the Field.
The HBO documentary follows the Get Hard star's bid to play every single baseball position within one day.
Cameras followed Ferrell as he played for ten different teams from Major League Baseball's Cactus League to raise awareness for cancer research.
His goal was very simple – cement the name Will Ferrell in the pantheon of great players to have graced the diamond.
"Ruth, Mantle, Will Ferrell," he bellows to a cheering crowd in the trailer.
Aside from highlighting cancer research, the stunt was a tribute to baseball legend Bert Campaneris playing each baseball position in the major leagues back on September 8, 1965.
Ferrell Takes the Field premieres on HBO in the Us on Saturday, September 12 at 10pm Et.

Right now, HBO is giving us the dour "True Detective," the "Entourage"-y "Ballers," and "The Brink," which I presume people are watching since it has been renewed. Next weekend, we get a new David Simon miniseries, "Show Me A Hero." But this fall, the network is taking things a bit breezy and silly, and they have Will Ferrell to help them with that task. The comic actor will be arriving with with self-evident title, "Ferrell Takes The Field." Back in March of this year, in what become a minor viral sensation, Will Ferrell made history by suiting up, heading down to Arizona for Major League Baseball spring training, and played every position on the field for ten different teams, all in one day. Yeah, it was a bit of stunt, but a memorable one, and it was done for charity too. It should be an amusing watch, so check out the trailer below.
