A great movie about gambling habits but perhaps a little bit too much morale cookies
euroasiangenetic27 November 2019
This little known yem really tackling a serious subject matter, gambling habits, with three stars from the epic tv series splash to victory from the 80s play now big roles in this 2011 classic.

Tiancai is born with a perfect skill of card gambling. But his wife don't want him to gamble, instead of finding a good job so he can support his soon to come daughter. After almost losing the baby and his wife by an accident, he pray that he will never bet or gamble again, by a miracle his prays are answered. But when his brother in law get debts over one million dollars, Tiancai is forced to gamble just repay the debts. He succeeded, but his habits come back, he breaks his promises to god, at first he is successful but then all hell breaks lose.

It has a good plot of showing what greed can do, the characters are understandably very much thanks to the Singapore actors, and it's also true that gamble can be exited but can also bring bad luck or worse in debt, it's a good movie to show this, a great lesson to learn.

However the moral cookies are sometimes a little too much, for example when is about to lose his wife at the birth process he pray to god and then she is fine, but when start to start to disbelieve in god that's when all troubles start and give him a real bad life, that feels like a religious propaganda, I think that could have been without, or maybe not.

Anyhow the movie is great, I give it 7/10.
