Nice Try!
martijn-wow11 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This is by far the best episode of The Flash. Including Season 1. Zoom is scary, I can't say anything more about that.

The episode starts with a fight between Dr. Light and The Flash, where Dr Light beats him and takes his Lightning emblem and that's it. And of course we were watching in the future.

So 72 hours earlier. They make up a plan to bait Zoom by using Dr Light, and try to beat him. It did not work, the baiting did! Only not at that moment but a few hours or so later, it did work yes. But beating him? Not so much. The Flash gets crushed like an ant. Hearing him say at the end of the Episode that he cannot feel his legs is saying enough. Zoom is a nasty speedster, you even hear the thunder when he runs from the roof to the ground. Hell he even caught a thunderbolt that The Flash was throwing at him and easily threw it back to The Flash.

The rest of Team Flash was doing great. Trying their best to keep The Flash safe. Harrison Wells made a gun that could stop Zoom from using his speed but it did not work, just for like 2 seconds with a bit of pain and then he just casually flashed away.

Cisco trying to use his powers to see if Wells was holding back some secrets were hilarious scenes. It did not work the first time but the second time was enough to see where Wells his daughter was on Earth 2. So we finally got that one out.

The relationship between Barry and Patty are so cute. I still like them together as a couple. Only thing I am thinking about is that how we will she react when she sees Barry in a wheelchair because he can't use his legs, will he tell her that he is The Flash. Or is Barry going to avoid her and stay in Star Labs to recover? I kind of hope the first one though, I think that Patty deserves to know who Barry really is, especially because she wants to help catching the bad meta humans. She was also trying to make a better trusting work- relationship with Joe. Joe was not really paying any attention to that, not even on the fact that She and Barry kissed. He couldn't care less.

When Zoom punched The Flash a couple of times and broke his back. He ran to the news station giving a speech, to the police station to give a speech and as the last location. Star Labs. Where he speaks to Wells personally about trying to defeat him with this loser as The Flash. This was so perfectly well written and acted that I had to mention it in this review.

Overall this was a really good episode. Happy to have seen some Zoom action.

Some + and - points!

+ Zoom is scary.

+ Cisco moments.

+ Barry + Patty.

+ Well written scenes + acting.

+ Dr Light + The Flash hilarious fake fights.

No - points for this episode. So a 10/10 for this episode

Zoom Ain't No Joke
erickd20113 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a big comic book fan so I knew for a fact when they were going to make a Flash show that the only true threat he would have to face would be other speedsters like himself. Don't get me wrong, he has other great villains but they're more inclined to give him less trouble then say a Reverse Flash. So the only real difference would be how the speedsters be represented and Zoom.definitely makes an impression. This episode was like a roller coaster ride ramping up the tension and humor (seriously that training scene with Linda was hilarious). Then Zoom just comes in and just owns the show (and Barry). I mean Barry gets absolutely destroyed and I honestly can't see how he can stop this guy. Don't know if somewhere down the line if people will get tired of Flash facing off against other speedsters but for now I can tell you Zoom is in a league of his own.

Pros: Zoom is a beast

Linda Park training scene...

And the following "trap" were hysterical

Barry willing to do anything to stop Zoom

Cons: A little slow in the beginning

Overall Score: 9.6/10

I... wow

This episode does one of my favorite tropes ever. People think it's gonna be about the thing they waited for, and then that thing just doesn't come. However, in the last ten minutes, things get absolutely crazy and everyone is like 'WTF'. Don't get me wrong, that trope is only good if it's done right. But oh boy, was it done right here. You can feel the tension before the big battle, and the thirty minutes before the awaited moment are great as well. It was full of hilarious moments which reminded me of the previous episode, so I was slowly starting to suspect that Zoom won't appear. When the crazy stuff happened, though, it was done well, not like in episode 4, where the man-shark felt out of place. This episode did a great job with character arcs. It showed how scary Zoom is and the contrast between him and the Flash wonderfully. I was worried that the Wells arc will be the same as in Season 1, but nope, they did a great job with that character too. Barry also had some great complex character moments and I like his dynamic with Patty. Cisco's scenes were fun, and while I was confused at why was he and Caitlin talking so closely to Wells, his scenes with Wells were great. Overall, WOW.

Zoom is a monster!
cobi-8062010 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
30 minutes into the episode and we had only seen Zoom once for 10 seconds. I was waiting anxiously and then he just shows up (not too surprisingly though) and then we get THE fight scene we have all longed for, holy s#&t!

I'll start with the first 30 minutes and then write about The Flash vs. Zoom and more last. So, the first scene (I'll weave in the set up scene too) t we see Dr. Light vs. The Flash. Not to much surprise Zoom doesn't show up, what did they really expect? That Zoom checks all the breaches every hour? Sure he has speed but that's reaching it a little too far. Btw, the Linda training scene was pretty unnecessary, Barry could've just shot himself or just stand still. Terrible plan though so I'm glad the lines were fun thanks to Cisco who pointed out exactly what I was thinking.

More about Cisco, now practicing his skills purposely, sort of. I don't understand why he didn't tell the others right away though. Some tips if you want to spy on someone; don't make it obvious that you're trying to spy on them (the handshake) and don't stand talking about it 5 meters away from the person you're spying on.

Patty, Patty, Patty.. feeling suspicious about your partner? Why didn't Joe just say "I heard The Flash caught her". Sure they are the meta-human task force and I still want to see those special cells at Ironheights prison. Hoping that we will see them at least once.

I'm not going to go deep on the fact that Dr. Light ran out of that place naked. Why can't she use this power to hide from Zoom?

Now let's all agree that the fight against Zoom is undoubtly the best fight we have had so far in this series! Zoom makes the Reverse-Flash almost seem weak. He managed to do what the Reverse-Flash had not and that is straight up humiliate and paralyze The Flash. When Zoom first appeared in front of Linda you can see how tall he is and the power he possesses we later see when he literally drags The Flash's unconscious body throughout Central City. He scores some extra point for looking so frightening and the way he speaks just adds to the monster they are calling him. I've watched this fight twice now, definitely the series's best fight by far and it totally made those 30 minutes of waiting worth it. It makes me wonder how is he going to beat Zoom the next time they face each other? Because he's certainly not going to stay paralyzed. I'm guessing we will see the film from that camera guy on TV on Arrow tomorrow. If they don't mention it at all I'm going to be very confused, given that we saw Green Arrow on TV on The Flash a few episodes ago.

So now onto my theories. Now that Zoom has proved his might in terms of the physical strength, how can they develop his character that will further make us go in awe? A way to do that is by putting another wall on top of this established wall (the physical superiority) and the only way to do that is making him not only physically hard for Barry to defeat but also emotionally. That is why Zoom will be someone close to him but an Earth-2 version. My best pick is Henry Allen, because I think that he (just like Robert Queen apparently) got the powers that his son would've gotten otherwise so I think their roles have been switched on Earth-2. But there already was a Flash on Earth-2 so Henry "had" to take the roll as the Earth-2 villainous speedster. But the fact that he chose not to kill Barry shows that he wants Barry alive, for now. Because why would he send all the meta-humans if he was this confident about his own capabilities? I think he's trying to go the comic book way where he wants Barry to become a better hero and the only way is by experiencing tragedy. Although why didn't he just do what he did to Jay and steal his speed? Unless that actually wasn't he who took Jay's speed-force and we will see Jay regain it some other way.

Looking forward to Grodd next week, but with no Flash, who is going to stop him and save the day? I'm hoping that Joe will get some revenge on Grodd for last season.

Bait and Switch

Warning: Spoilers
When it was proposed last week that Team Flash would keep Dr. Light and set up a trap in order to lure Zoom to them it seemed pretty silly to me. Why in the world would Zoom ever fall for such a thing? But this episode definitely handled things well in that area, as well as giving us the first 'Holy Sh*t' moment of the season. Seriously, Flash went all Charles Xavier on us. Holy Zoom Barry lost his legs.

Picking up with a fight between Dr. Light and Barry where she takes his emblem away in presumably a double cross, only for us to find out it was all a ruse. Flash and Arrow have both done the whole 'episode begins with a WTF moment only to take us back a day or less and show us how it started' thing a lot. But I feel like this one was used very well. The fake fight between Light and Flash was pretty hilarious. I will say that for an episode titled Enter Zoom you would think the episode was centered on that particular character. Zooms absence bothered me for awhile until the epic finale. It really did feel a whole lot like a mid-season finale. The problem is that the big crossover episode is in a few weeks and from the pictures they released today, we know Barry regains his legs. So that kind of ruined any sort of hopeless feel to the event. But perhaps he doesn't regain his speed for awhile? Who knows.Other than that, the ending felt very Empire Strikes Back esque in that you feel as though there is pretty much no way these guys can beat Zoom, at least as of now.

I feel like everyone was a little touchier than usual tonight. Particularly Wells and Barry. Barry wasn't thinking with his brain like he usually does which caused me to question a few of the things he was saying. Wells also seemed a bit off, but doesn't he always? At least the whole daughter thing is out in the open so he doesn't have any more secrets, for now. I still feel like Wells is hiding something else.

Barry and Patty were just as good as they were last week. Some of their dialogue is still so cheesy, but every time I buy into it. There's just something about their relationship that works more than any past relationships for both Barry and Oliver on Arrow. Considering Patty's arc this week dealt with her trust with Joe, I'm starting to feel like Patty will find out about Barry very very soon. Barry is great with patty, but he's not so great with Linda as he revealed his identity to her for some reason? That just didn't make much sense at all to me. Especially considering Linda Park is a writer and they only briefly went out/knew each other. Frustrating. Plus, why is Barry taking his mask off in public again? Didn't he learn from that last year?

In all, I think this episode works very well as a two-part episode with last week. I just wish that Zoom was in it just a little bit more. The ending made the wait worth it for sure. A few more tidbits worth noting: Earth Two's TV showed Robert Queen as the Arrow and Oliver killed in the shipwreck. A nice twist on both this universe and the Flashpoint story line from the comics. Wells said Zoom "Is, or was a human" hmmmm...interesting. And finally, I'm starting to believe the rumors about Barry's dad being Zoom a little bit. Just take a look at a side by side of their faces/eyes. I'm probably way off but it's always fun speculating.

+Zoom is a bada**

+Barry lost his legs

+Earth two easter eggs

+Comedic fake fight

+Wells' secret is in the open

-But why did Barry tell Linda his secret?

-Keep your mask on

Ranking/Reviewing every Flash episode: Enter Zoom
lbramson11 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Team Flash tries and fails to trap Zoom resulting in the villain beating the crap out of Barry and running him around the city like a trophy. I love this kind of episode, the calm before the storm. When you expect something to come but it subverts expectations and the opposite happens. You think Zoom will get trapped, but no, he instead DESTROYS Barry in a very intense sequence! There's a reason this insane episode is so highly rated and often considered the best episode of Season 2. In a season as good as the second, Enter Zoom manages to stand out as an exceptional installment. 2x06 isn't my favorite episode this season, but it is close, very close!

Zoom is so scary bro he just sent villian after villian to kill the flash and now he can do it himself the first half of this episode was a lil boring but like the finale 10 minutes are one the best action scenes I have seen in any tv show its so good bro I wish bro episodes were like this man we need to focus on barry and the villians more not the side characters but always let's go back to things that matter and then zoom left and cripple this man in front of his friends bro lol pray for barry if he is ok zoom might be better than reverse flash just saying you can disagree all you want the end.

Enter Zoom
SpideyVerse2328 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode gives us the proper introduction of Zoom and he is worth the wait.

After catching Dr. Light, Barry tries to get her to help him catch Zoom, but when she escapes leaving her suit behind, he decides to take the help of Linda Park to trick Zoom into coming to Earth-1. Those scenes made for good comedy, especially the training part.

Cisco and Caitlin try to use Cisco's powers to find out the secrets of Harry, but Harry is smart enough not to fall for it. The flashbacks focused on him and gave more hints as to why he came to Earth-1.

The last 10 minutes of the episode are just awesome and show just how scary Zoom is.

Good and bad

Warning: Spoilers
I'm giving this episode a 7 because it was an interesting and fun one. It was great to really see Zoom for the first time. There was lots of action and some funny moments with Linda (who I like). With that said, what kind of idiotic plan was it to try and capture Zoom with a pretend Dr. Light?! Are they trying to catch a third grader or a monster? I get that Barry is brave but running toward danger without a plan makes him look stupid and trying to catch an enormous monster like Zoom with a ridiculous plan like that makes them all look stupid. It's disappointing.
