Female participants (who need them) are permitted to bring whatever they use to deal with their menstrual cycles at home, in surplus of the allowed 10 items, but must pledge not to repurpose the products.
The series strapline turned out to be pretty accurate - even hard core survivalists with food left in the larder are apt to fall fowl to mental demons, loneliness and missing loved ones long before hunger the cold or wild prey gets them to tap out.
