The book 'Agent Carter Season Two Declassfied' features a large picture from the set depicting a London street that features the 'Lyric Theatre' with the title 'The Woman with the Golden Face' on its marquee. This is a reference to Whitney Frost's alter ego in the Marvel comics: Madame Masque. There is also a poster hanging outside the theatre that features a drawing of a golden mask very much like the comic book version. However, the theatre cannot be seen in the background in the London sequence as featured in 'The Edge of Mystery'.
Peggy refers to the massacre of some gangsters, tying Whitney to the killings and to her former relationship with a mobster. These are vague nods to the wave of murders in Los Angeles in the late 1940s and early 1950s of associates of organized crime boss Mickey Cohen, as well as to the 1950s and the relationship of A-list movie star Lana Turner with mafia enforcer Johnny Stompanato. In a sensationalized murder trial Turner's daughter stabbed and killed Stomanato when he attacked her mother. Whitney Frost is a vague amalgam of Turner and movie star / inventor Hedy Lamarr.
