Heading to Sundance next week is Sydney Freeland’s coming-of-age dramedy “Deidra & Laney Rob a Train,” starring newcomers Ashleigh Murray and Rachel Crow.
The movie follows Deidra, a whip-smart high school senior, and her younger sister Laney who, after their mother Marigold (Danielle Nicolet) is thrown in jail for a minor offense, hatch a plan to rob trains to get money and support their family. Things seem to be working out for them until a railroad detective (Tim Blake Nelson) starts sniffing around.
Written by Shelby Farrell, “Deidra & Laney Rob a Train” also co-stars Sasheer Zamata, David Sullivan, Missi Pyle, Arturo Castro, Brooke Markham and Sharon Lawrence.

Martin Garrix is definitely a DJ who knows how to ring in the new year with style. We’ve already heard an unreleased song from the Dutch DJ dubbed “Scared To Be Lonely” that was unveiled during his stint at Ava Nye 2016, and now his end of the year mix has hit the internet for our listening pleasure.
Comprised of nineteen tracks and clocking in at an hour long, Garrix’s year end mix is packed to the brim with a number of his top releases from 2016, as well as plenty of other goodies. A number of songs from the producer’s Ade week marathon surface in the tracklist, like “Spotless” with Jay Hardway and “Welcome” with Julian Jordan. Alesso and Axwell Λ Ingrosso pop up as well, before Garrix brings the mix to a fitting close with his Bebe Rexha collaboration “In The Name Of Love.”

In case you didn’t notice last week, a number of categories had their ranks thinned out by the Academy. Well, in that regard, I’m here to help. Yes, AMPAS thinned the herd in Best Original Score, Best Original Song, and Best Foreign Language Feature. They also managed to include a handful of snubs, as always is the case. Those will be listed in just a moment, but definitely study these lists, as there are Oscar hints to be found within. For now though, these are just the remaining titles fighting it out for nominations. Take a look and be sure to see how it all impacts predictions going forward. Below you will see the 145 films in Original Score that are still eligible, the 91 tunes in Original Song, and the nine in Foreign Language Feature that remain in play. There were no real Song snubs, but notably Score has eliminated presumed nominee Arrival,...

Following the hustle and bustle of the extended, Thanksgiving weekend it makes sense this weekend would be a bit quieter. Set to repeat atop the weekend box office is Disney's Moana followed once again by WB's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them as the rest of the field settles in below. The weekend features one new wide release in Bh Tilt's Incarnate, offering horror fans a little something as the lone horror film currently in wide release, while Freestyle issues the moderate release of the faith-based feature Believe. At the top, Moana should drop somewhere around 54% from its $56.6 million three-day weekend for a second weekend around $26 million pushing its domestic cume a couple million shy of $120 million by the end of the weekend. For comparison, Frozen dipped 53% following its record-breaking three-day wide release and Tangled dipped 55.7% after its $48.7 million Thanksgiving weekend three-day debut. In the runner-up position, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them...
