The Talking Tom and Friends pilot episode is interesting to say the least. The episode follows Tom making an audition video to have his own reality show. It is a very bizarre beginning to the show. It has a different tone compared to the rest of the show, I don't know why. They were still experimenting with the characters and writing so I'll give them a pass on that. The animation is not the best and kind of unappealing in this episode, but this pilot was probably produced with a low budget so I'll cut them some slack on that. The voice acting is definitely not that good compared to later episodes, but Tom is probably the best voice acted character in the episode. Colin Hanks gives him a sort of charisma that carries on throughout the series. Even Tom Kenny seems kind of bored, which is weird because he is usually pretty charismatic. Also, I did not really think the last minute decision of making the episode a Christmas episode in the third act was necessary. Still, I kind of enjoyed the pilot. It may not be as strong as the rest of the season, but it's charming enough. Even with the less than stellar animation and voice acting.
