After the time jump from the end of last season, Bones and Booth have had their second child - a son that they named Hank. The name choice would be a memorial to Booth's grandfather, Hank Booth, who kicked Booth's father out of the house after discovering him beating Booth and took on the role of raising Booth and his little brother, Jared, himself. Ralph Waite who played Hank "Pops" Booth died in 2014. After his death, the show's writers stated that they did not plan to write an episode dealing with Hank's death, but would do their best to find some way to honor him on the show.
The combination to Booth's gun safe is 447. The number 447 has appeared repeatedly throughout the series as an "easter egg" for fans in easy to miss ways (alarm clocks, door numbers, etc.). Series creator Hart Hanson has confirmed that the repetition of the number is intentional and meant to be hard to spot. In a Paley Center panel, he stated that the significance of the number will be revealed in the very last episode, and that even the actors don't know the meaning behind 447.
When Aubrey and Miller are checking out Jared's friend, Aubrey's ID is upside down.
Kim Raver who plays Special Agent Grace Miller in this and the following episode is also starring in Grey's Anatomy (2005) as Dr. Teddy Altman. However, in the German dubbed version of Bones, she has a different voice than in Grey's Anatomy. Her German voice here is the same as that of Callie Torres, another doctor of Grey's Anatomy, played by Sara Ramirez.
Kim Raver and Roger Cross previously worked together on seasons 4-6 of 24 (2001).
