This movie was filmed entirely on-location at the Esplanade Mall in Kenner, Louisiana, in the fall of 2015.
There are two scenes in the movie where digital cameras have a cameo. In the first scene a modified version of a Kodak DC40 can be seen. The movie prop has a sand colored body and yellow status LEDs on the back whereas the real world DC40 is black and has none such LEDs. In the second scene a customer brings in what looks like an early Kodak DSLR. He complains about an overheated CPU and the fear to lose his images which is absolute nonsense of course. The camera he slams on the counter appears to be a movie prop as there is no real world version of this camera. It has a close resemblance to the integrated Kodak Hawkeye II however.
Pinky Steuben, played by John Rhys-Davies, tells Pete that he performed in the musical "Kismet" in London in 1962 with Sean Connery, and reviewers thought he but not Connery was destined for stardom. While Kismet did not play in London that year and Connery was never in a performance, Rhys-Davies in one of his most loved roles did perform in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) with Connery.
