- The season finale reaches an explosive climax. Bosch and Edgar discover the final piece of the Tony Allen investigation. Harry searches to uncover the truth behind his mother's murder.
- Bosch is up early, he tells Eleanor he is going out to meet someone who knows about his mother's murder. But he'll be back later to take her and Maddie to the beach and airport.
Harry meets a an old woman in a nursing home, she was a former babysitter. She was also an escort. She had a big surfer type client, was a little rough, named Mitch. She passed him off to Marjorie Lowe that last night, but reported it to a Detective then left town. Harry is upset she took so long to say anything more.
Carl Nash wakens from a sofa in the cabin, he has a revolver, and eats some canned sausages.
Harry takes Eleanor and Maddie to the beach. Eleanor says her world is upside down, and regrets a bit their breakup.
After dark, Harry goes to a motel. He asks the clerk for records back to 1979, the old clerk doesn't recall a murder back then, but there were two in the 1980s. He takes Bosch to a storeroom full of old registers. Harry finds the date he was looking for. The clerk doesn't recall a man named Fox Mitchell, and let's him borrow the old register. Harry asks to see Room 7. Back at home, his house is quiet, Harry seems unsettled.
DA O'Shea meets with Chief Irving. The DA is worried about his endorsement, but Irving says he only accepted the Interim Chief position temporarily. The Grand Jury will release the findings soon. Irving then indicates the Waits video is already with The Times. O'Shea is furious.
Lt Billets asks about the two old files Bosch requested from Archives, he says he has time to look into his Mother's murder at the moment with the lull in the Nash case. Harry thinks there are two other cases related to the City Centre Motel and updates Billets. The cops watch the Waits video on the LA Times website. Harry shrugs it off as above his pay grade.
A tech explains the weapons collected from the parking lot shooting. The tech mentions Nash's crew were all using reloaded bullets. It'll be another day before the acid raises the serial numbers.
Harry goes to see a retired detective and asks about Fox Mitchell. Harry presses him about the phone call from the woman, the elderly man denies there was a call, then concedes Fox Mitchell was an undercover Narcotics snitch, not his real name. He was told to lay off. Harry is very bitter and leaves.
Veronica Allen is in County Jail, she has Honey Chandler as a lawyer and explains her story with the Priest. At her arraignment, Chandler greets Bosch. After Allen pleads not guilty, in the hallway Chandler already starts referring to Bosch's reputation.
Harry goes to Narcotics to get Mitchell's real name. The Confidential Informant files are still locked unless authorized. But the narc cop also had a bad time with Capt Pounds so he lets Harry look in the cabinets. Harry finds the file. The man he wants went into witness protection.
Edgar tells Bosch he found out about the automatic weapons. They were reported stolen from a gun camp then found in an insurance scam. The gun camp was no longer open, but they will check it out. In the country they find the chain on the driveway cut, they proceed in under probable cause. They stop, Jerry gets the shotgun from the trunk, they proceed on foot. As they approach the cabin Carl Nash lets loose with full auto. Jerry and Harry take cover. Edgar's shotgun blast wounds Nash. Nash yells he's not coming out, but will burn evidence against Veronica unless he can deal. Nash has a box of hand grenades, he tosses one out the window. Before he can toss the next one, Harry and Jerry's return gunfire makes him drop it with the pin out. Nash comes flying out the door, dead, then the whole cabin explodes.
Irving gets a photo message of the dead Carl Nash. Lt Billets gives Bosch and Edgar a few days off. Leila is at an elegant seaside restaurant, Martin Weiss is there too and reports in on a cell he has found the lost bird.
Irving and Bosch stand by a police memorial. Harry wants to know about Arno Eperson aka Fox Mitchell. Harry asks Irving to let him know where the man is.
Harry goes to a surf shack. A guy named Big Wave Dave is dead of cancer two years. Harry goes to David Aronsons grave and spits on it.
