I would have liked this to be over after 60 seconds

Warning: Spoilers
"Nur noch 60 Sekunden" is a German live action short film from 2014, so this one is already over five years old and if you take a look at the title, which means "Only 60 seconds left" and at the contents, namely the car references, then this is clearly a tribute to a specific Nicolas Cage movie. That much is safe. This one here runs for nine minutes and it is a pretty long music video with a story you could say. This is probably the best way to describe it. It was seen by approximately 1.5 million people on Youtube, maybe 2 million if you do not read my review immediately after release, and that is a solid number. I must say though that I am not familiar at all with Celo and Abdi, the artists featured in here. I guess these are the ones you see and hear rap in here, but it takes a while until they get going. The first minutes are basically only acting and story, almost no music. And as for the music, I also liked the non-rap tune better that we constantly hear in the background, even if it is not great either and always the same, but at least mildly catchy. The film's title is verbally referenced during the rapping. Well, it did feel a bit forced. One thing (or person) that 100% needs to be mentioned here is the inclusion of Moritz Bleibtreu whose popularity is still massive enough and probably gave a big boost to this film. He plays a crime leader it seems involved with all kinds of illegal stuff. No detailed elaboration, but the gun-to-the-head situation with the young fella is self-explanatory. But even this was not shown from up close really, so they tried to keep it as harmless as possible to avoid age restrictions I suppose. Another actress in here as you can read on the screen is Julia Dietze playing the bad guy's femme fatale. Or something like that. She is not credited here on imdb, but she is in it. German film buffs maybe know her, even if she is obviously nowhere near Bleibtreu's degree of fame. Okay, what else is there to say. I guess my rating and the title of my review made it very clear that I liked neither the story nor the music this time. So unfortunately, it is a big thumbs-down for me although I would not say that it is 100% failure and I believe that others can enjoy it. So if you really dig Bleibtreu or the musicians (who sadly really aren't gifted actors at all and made Bleibtreu look like Pacino with the little material he had), then you can still give it a go although you probably have done so already.
