Rather than pressuring the actors to memorize lines or have them read from cue cards, teaching artists stayed off-camera and dropped them in. This allowed the actors to have fun and move and speak more naturally. In the editing room, the teaching artists' voices were taken out so only the actors' voices can be heard in the final cut.
When they weren't required on-set, the ensemble worked in small groups with a licensed art therapist to construct the biggest and most important prop - a life-sized replica of SUE the T-Rex's head which can be seen in the final scene. The sculpture was made from foam blocks, aluminum foil, masking tape, and papier-mache and measured 5ft long x 3ft wide x 3ft deep.
