She has done some of the finest make-up and prosthetic work in Bollywood. We are talking about the award-winning Preetisheel Singh. Among the many directors she has worked with, some of her best transformations have been for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic films.
Preetisheel first worked with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Bajirao Mastani where she curated Ranveer Singh’s look in the film. Then she got a second chance to work with the prolific filmmaker with Padmaavat. For this film, she not only worked on the stunning looks of Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor, but designed the look once again for Ranveer Singh, this time transforming him as the intimidating Alauddin Khilji.
And now, Bhansali has repeated Preetisheel to curate the look for Alia Bhatt for his upcoming saga Gangubai Kathiawadi.
“Working with Sanjay Sir is one of the most important milestones of my career,” says Preetisheel. “It feels surreal.

National award-winning make-up and prosthetics artiste Preetisheel Singh, who is working on Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s looks in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-awaited period drama Padmavati, says she is trying to do something different with the looks in the film.
“Padmavati is set during the 12th century, and we don’t have paintings from that era from where we can take references,” she said in an interview to Scroll.in. So Preetisheel has gone ahead and photoshoped ideas before putting them into practice. She says, though it is an imaginative and time-consuming process, it’s not very difficult for her as she always tries to make the actor don a look that he or she hasn’t had before.
Now anyone who knows even a little bit about Preetisheel would agree to that. After all, she has made a lot of heads turn with her work...

National Award-winning make-up and prosthetics expert Preetisheel Singh who created and worked on Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s look for the film Mom, has been receiving accolades and admiration ever since the release of the film. “I’m amazed and humbled by the stupendous appreciation I’ve got,” she says with a smile.
“I’d worked hard on Nawazuddin’s bald look with buck teeth for the film, and I was expecting it to be noticed. But the kind of glowing feedback it has received, is beyond my expectations,” she admits.
“Not only did all the film critics laud the look and character, but audiences including all my friends showered praise. Some sent me colourful bouquets too; another memory I would cherish for a long long time. It all seems like a sudden pleasant dream. Luckily, its reality.”
Preetisheel puts in a special word of thanks for the makers for their faith in her abilities.

Even though Pallavi Sharda's last film Hawaizaada may not have done well at the box-office, that hasn't deterred this girl's spirit. Pallavi, who has already worked with international actors like Nicole Kidman, Dev Patel and Rooney Mara in Garth Davis' Hollywood flick Lion, will now be seen with the Irish heartthrob Jonathan Rhys Meyers (best known for the historical fiction TV series The Tudors) in a film titled Shambhala. Shambhala is basically a survivalist drama, which has been written and directed by Australian filmmaker Summer Nicks. It's a film that will showcase the journey of a survivor of a plane crash (the role will be played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers). Speaking about her role in the film, Pallavi Sharda said that she will be seen playing the role of Urdu speaking Nadia, who has an extremely strong character and who dares to defy the social norms and traditions.

Renowned Indian-American composer, Aakash Gandhi, has teamed up with the popular Indo-Canadian vocalist, Shweta Subram, in their first ever collaboration. This new release is an acoustic cover of the recent Bollywood hit, ‘Jeena Jeena’, sung by Atif Aslam from the latest blockbuster, Badlapur. Aakash’s rendition with Shweta is nothing short of musical nirvana!
Along with Aakash and Shweta, the cover of Jeena Jeena features the talented Sahil Khan on flute, accomplished Sandeep Thakur on violin and the gifted Rupak Dhamankar on percussion. The composition of Aakash eloquently blends Shweta’s vocals with the flute and violin to mesmerize us from the first note onwards. Shweta, who is classically trained, adds in pleasant nuances to vocally differentiate the song from the original. Final mixing and mastering was performed by Francisco Nicholson The video for this release has been shot tastefully and harmoniously sets the mood of the song.

As Indians we have always been proud of how our ancestors were way ahead of their times, giving the world some revolutionary concepts and inventions. So ‘Aryabhatta gave the world the number 0’ is often our trademark reply to India being called a backward and third world country in almost any movie. Taking this a bit further is Vibhu Puri’s Hawaizaada based on a theory that an Indian was the first to build an airplane before the Wright brothers did.

You may have heard it in every film that has been made on the theme of Colonial India from Manmohan Desai's Mard to Ashutosh Gowariker's Lagaan. Somewhere or the other the Britishers in Indian films are bound to refer to Indian as 'bloody Indians' No more so. For Vibhu Puri's delicately drawn period film Hawaizaada which is set in Colonial India, the censor board in all its wisdom asked the 'bloody' to be removed from the 'bloody Indian.' Sighs the director Vibhu Puri, "I had no choice but to replace the word 'bloody' in 'bloody Indian' with 'crazy'. I am aware that the Britishers in our films have been shown to use the term 'bloody Indian' in numerous films. But if I had insisted I'd have got a 'UA' certificate instead of 'U'. So I preferred to change the supposedly offensive word as it made no difference to my narrative.

Commenting on the development, Sanjeev Lamba CEO, Reliance Entertainment said "We are extremely happy to receive the tax free grant. This will ensure that the film will reach out to a much larger audience base. The achievements of Shivkar Talpade are largely undocumented and even un-credited. This film is our attempt to highlight one of his biggest achievements of flying the first plane ever at Chowpatty, Mumbai, in 1895.
