Just in case you've been living in the Upside Down, let me get you up to speed: Stranger Things Season 2 is officially happening. And as revealed by the show's unreasonably-attractive creators the Duffer Brothers, the new episodes will be set a year after the events of the first season, which would place the characters squarely in the latter days of 1984 (Season 1 took place between November and December of 1983). While that's not a whole lot later, it's still enough time for a massive number of pop-culture and consumer products to have been introduced in the interim, from film to TV to music to technology. So what, pray tell, will Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Nancy, Jonathan and Steve (but not Barb, obvs) be using, watching, wearing, reading and listening to in the new season that wouldn't have been available to them in the prior timeline because they didn't exist yet? For those curious...

More than 30 years ago, David Bowie joined rock luminaries Sting, Bono, Phil Collins and many more for the now-classic holiday song, "Do They Know It's Christmas." As news of Bowie's death shocks the world Monday, Midge Ure, who wrote the 1984 hit with Bob Geldof, is speaking out about the legend's impact on the world of music. "I don't think that you could go any further than David Bowie," the Scottish musician and singer-songwriter said during an appearance on ITV's Good Morning Britain. "I think if you spoke to any musician who has been around in the last 30, 40 years, we all...

YouTube vlogger Alfie Deyes has admitted that he can be affected by online comments.
However, he also told ITV's This Morning that he is not often bothered by such bullying, as he would rather focuses on the positive responses he receives.
"As soon as you see one comment that hits you hard, it does affect you… but I don't think it [bothers me] too much because there's a lot of positivity," said Deyes.
"I'd rather spend a minute replying to something positive than a minute arguing with somebody over something negative. I'd rather spend my time dedicating it to people that support me."
He continued: "I see so much stuff online, because a lot of my audience are younger, going through hard times, and I didn't realise how much bullying was happening online - so I always tell people to speak out."
Asked about the challenges of his profession, Deyes said: "The...

It's hard to bet on the future, but of this I'm certain: Three decades from now, I'll still know every lyric to "We Are the World."
Released 30 years ago this week, the chart-topping charity single occupies at least as much space in my brain as my second-grade teacher (who made our class sing it repeatedly) and my first Sony Walkman (purchased around the time of its release).
News: Pop Songs Meant For Other Singers
"We Are the World" wasn't just a pop-culture event; it was a bona fide movement. Inspired by the success of Band Aid's 1984 charity release, Do They Know It's Christmas?, entertainer and activist Harry Belafonte came up with the idea to record an American track for famine relief in Africa.
Quincy Jones and Michael Omartian produced the song, which was penned by two of the biggest musicians at the height of their fame: Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie. More than 45 other...

The British nurse who survived Ebola will deliver the 2014 Alternative Christmas Message on Channel 4.
William Pooley recorded the message at the Connaught Hospital in Freetown, Sierra Leone, ahead of its broadcast on Christmas Day.
Channel 4's head of news and current affairs Dorothy Byrne said: "What a joy and honour it is for Channel 4 that William Pooley agreed to deliver this year's Alternative Christmas Message; a message of love and hope, which inspires."
Pooley said in his message: "I don't want to make you feel guilty, but I would like you to think just for a few minutes about what you could do to help.
"This is a global problem and it will take the world to fix it. What a wonderful Christmas present that would be.
