Toby wears the 'Lost In Time Pictures' Production Tie' found in many other productions.
The requirements for the story were: a Conductor's baton, a character named Debbie Perkins with the occupation of manicurist, and the spoken line of 'could you open the door, please'. Each sub story had every element in some capacity, but the filmmakers never say it aloud or set that up as the criteria.
Although there was a written script, the cast improvised where possible to add a sense of camaraderie between them. the dialogue was so natural that the director only needed a single take from each respective angle. Filming in general only took seven hours, which ironically was the maximum length for the film.
Maria's story was shot in black and white, not color and then adjusted. The director often chooses to shoot as practically as possible.
