- The battle between Bheem and Duryodhan begins. The warriors appear equal in strength and skill, but Krishna informs Bheem that Duryodhan could be defeated if he smashes Duryodhan's thighs.
- Pandavas reach the battlefield and there is no Kaurav army, since Duryodhan didn't assign a Commander In Chief after Shalya died. The army cannot come out of the camp in the absence of a Commander In Chief. Kripa is sure that Pandavas won't enter the Kaurav camp to inflict this humiliation on the enemy. Kripa knows that Yudhishthir will either wait for Duryodhan on the battlefield or he will go where Duryodhan is.
Yudhishthir sends soldiers to find Duryodhan. Pandavas find Duryodhan hiding in a lake. Krishna tells Yudhishthir that till Duryodhan is alive, the war is not won yet. Krishna says that Duryodhan is the biggest representation of injustice and needs to be demolished before a new and just society can be established on the land of Hastinapur. Duryodhan has hidden himself inside a water bubble and is resting at the bottom of the lake.
Kripa, Kritvarma and Ashwathama watch from the little distance away, hidden behind a tree. Ashwathama says that they should not hurt Duryodhan's self-respect by jumping in to help him just before the most crucial battle of his entire life. Yudhishthir challenges Duryodhan to finish the war. Duryodhan insults the Pandavas by saying again that they are children of unknown fathers. They are cowards as they killed Bhishma, Drona and Karna by treachery and by drinking Dushasan's blood they proved that they are not even human beings. Duryodhan says he will fight, but only for the sake of war. Even if he wins, Hastinaur will go to Yudhishthir as all people who would be happy to see Duryodhan on the throne are now gone. Yudhishthir offers that Duryodhan can pick any one of the 5 brothers and if Duryodhan defeats them with a weapon of his choice, then Yudhishthir will concede defeat. Duryodhan picks Bheem and mace. Krishna admonishes Yudhishthir of giving victory away to Duryodhan on a platter as no one is capable of defeating Duryodhan in a mace battle, not even Bheem.
Yudhishthir orders Sahadev to bring Duryodhan's armor and mace from his tents. Sahadev meets Gandhari and informs her of the impending mace battle between Bheem and Duryodhan. Balram arrives in Kurukshetra. The battle between Bheem and Duryodhan begins. The warriors appear equal in strength and skill. Bheem lands several powerful blows on Duryodhan with no effect. Several of those blows are directly on Duryodhan's head and face, and yet they don't even land a scratch on his body. Now Krishna knows that Duryodhan's body is turned to Iron.
Krishna indicates to Bheem that Duryodhan could be defeated if he smashes Duryodhan's thighs. Bheem leaps like a lion and breaks Duryodhan's thighs with his mace and defeats him. Balram is livid and wants to kill Bheem as attacking below the waist is considered illegal in mace warfare. But Krishna stops him and says that Balram never punished Duryodhan for the numerous injustices that he inflicted upon the Pandavas.
Krishna tells Balram not to influence a war, from which he ran away. Balram withdraws, but says that he will be proud of Duryodhan and ashamed of Bheem as his student. Krishna asks Pandavas to leave Duryodhan alone and spend the first night of victory in the Kauravas camp.
