- [PART 1] Locally born Felix Mooslechner returns from Munich to act as mountain guide for his goal-getter girlfriend, art history student Marie Langhoff, but Andreas's helicopter team must rescue her from the peek after she ignores his warnings. Needing an easier way up, Felix takes Marie to his brother, Bastl Mooslechner, who felt betrayed as they were raised -parentally abandoned- by a late grandfather whose farm he continues, while Felix left to the city. Marie explains that grandfather Mooslechner was the only survivor who has opportunity to hide in the mountains a Nazi-robbed Vermeer painting on evacuation at the end of the war. Tobias Herbrechter is furious when his father presents the hotel's new physiotherapist Katharina Strasser as his half-sister, who knew for years unlike him about the affair that made his mother leave home. She invades his service jeep to force him to talk, but while he drives to repair road blocs, spots and chases the Mooslechner car as they clearly forced a way trough, but looses control and crashes down the slope, unnoticed by the escaping trio, so without phone reach it takes a while until the damaged car radio-improvised Morse alarm is picked up at the rescue station.—KGF Vissers
- [PART 2] Time starts running out for badly wounded, immobilized Tobias and creeping half-sister Katharina, as no rescue seems to be forthcoming. The brothers Felix and Bastl Mooslechner bicker over Marie, and reach the mountain cabin where the Nazi-abducted Vermeer must be hidden, but it's unstable and the roof crashes down, pinning them down with what proves an empty wooden case, the other convoy soldier robbed it first. Andreas Marthaler and his team use various clues, from Morse signals with Tobias's semi-crushed car radio to Franz's (post-)wartime recollections, to find and save both Tobias' car and the trapped trio.—KGF Vissers
