Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell showed a sharp week-on-week ratings drop this Sunday (May 24), according to overnight data.
Episode two of the drama, based on Susanna Clarke's acclaimed bestseller, aired to 2.57m (13%) at 9pm on BBC One - down on last week's corresponding overnight audience of 4.53m.
BBC One's Countryfile led the night with an audience of 5.77m (33.4%) at 7pm, followed by 5.35m (28.1%) for the Antiques Roadshow at 8pm.
Match of the Day, featuring highlights from the final day of the Premier League season, was seen by 3.09m (27.6%) at 10.30pm.
Over on ITV, episode four of World War II-era drama Home Fires led the night for the channel, with 4.47m (22.6%) tuning in at 9pm.
Earlier in the night, Warwick Davis' Celebrity Squares was seen by 1.57m at 7.15pm, followed by an overnight audience of 3.08m (16.2%) for Sunday Night at the London Palladium at 8pm.

Gino D'Acampo has confessed to licking chocolate spread - Nutella, no less - off his cousin.
The celebrity chef made the bizarre confession during the taping of tomorrow night's (March 19) Celebrity Juice.
The star guests on the ITV2 show were taking part in a challenge which saw them lick peanut butter off a window to reveal a picture of a celebrity.
During the sticky task, host Keith Lemon asked D'Acampo whether he had ever licked anything off a woman before.
According to The Sun, D'Acampo answered that there had once been an incident involving himself, chocolate spread and his female cousin.
"I was young. She said the Nutella tasted better 'down there', but it was a trick," he tried to explain to flabbergasted fellow guests, including Caroline Flack, who apparently cried with laughter.
Jimmy Carr replied: "Your lack of shame is most amazing."
