- In the aftermath of the plague, a powerful lord (Craig Parker) discovers that Mary was responsible for the death of his son and demands vengeance, testing the loyalties of Mary, Francis and Catherine. Francis returns to the castle with Lola and their newborn son, creating tension with Mary. Greer is torn by her loyalty to her fiancé, Lord Castleroy, who blames Leith for his daughter's demise. Meanwhile, Kenna urges Bash to be formally recognized in his new role.—Reign.wikia.com
- King Francis is duly not-amused that Mary on her own turned down the Narcisse blackmail deal, using Nostradamus to trick Catherine, and executed Eduard by plague without trial. Lord Narcisse seeks revenge for his son, and threatens with an aristocratic rebellion unless he gets it, not on the queen, but by executing the court physician and loyal soldiers he only obeyed her murderous command. To Francis's surprise, not only Mary but also Catherine urges him to recognize his bastard son, while Bash, who turned down a nomination on the crown council, successfully 'begs' for a formal mandate as royal deputy and enforcer. The only hope to save the scapegoats' necks is discovering the true motive for Eduard's demand, which relates to papal funds and a cardinal's murder in Paris, as leverage against Narcisse. Leith Bayard is bitterly disappointed by Greer choosing loyalty to Lord Aloysius Castleroy, but surprised worst when an utterly unfair deal is struck at his expense. Before learning his execution is off, Nostradamus bitterly tells 'disloyal' Catherine about another falsely presumed dead.—KGF Vissers
