Sex & Nudity

  • A woman shows her bare breasts briefly.
  • Towards the end of the film, we see nude people, partial frontal nudity is seen, and breasts are shown briefly. This is non-sexual and done in an art context.

Violence & Gore

  • There is a brief instance of animal cruelty. A child clips the leg off a baby duck.
  • A man hits a woman's head with a car jack. Not explicitly shown, but it is repeated a few times throughout the film. One of the times it is repeated, he is shown hitting her several times with it, then he is only heard hitting her. the bloody aftermath of her head is shown several times.
  • A woman is killed by Jack via stabbing
  • Throughout the film a freezer unit is filled up with corpses. Jack manipulates some of these corpses in various ways so that he can take pictures of them.
  • A man is stabbed in the neck with a hunting knife.
  • A police officer is shot offscreen.
  • A man methodically lines up the corpses of a family he just killed, and surrounds them in a square of crow carcasses. It does not show him hunting the crows.
  • The film includes several minutes of stock footage of concentration camps, arguably the most disturbing sequences of the film due to their real nature.
  • A man strangles a woman that he meets and kisses. The scene is quite drawn out and she dies slowly with strong detail.
  • A man runs a woman over with his van. Though the impact is not seen, it is heard and he is seen dragging her corpse into his van.
  • When a man fails to strangle a woman, he apologizes profusely. He then attempts to suffocate her with donuts. The scene is blackly humorous and comical

Profanity

  • There are 25 uses of f**k, 4 uses of s**t, 1 use of b***ard, 6 uses of d**n, and 9 uses of h**l.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A man and a woman have cocktails in one scene; they're shown drinking mixed drinks of vodka and soda.
  • Drugs: A woman mentions getting special "pills" from a friend.
  • Toward the end of the film, a man shares a whiskey with a friend.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • This film is highly disturbing.
  • The killings are not the most disturbing part of the film
  • Despite being very disturbing there is a lot of dark humour sprinkled throughout.

Sex & Nudity

  • Jack cuts off the breasts of his girlfriend. This is shown fully in the Unrated version for a brief moment.

Violence & Gore

  • A man shoots two boys and their mother and builds a sculpture using their corpses.
  • A man kidnaps several other men and traps them for hours and possibly even days in a freezer until most of them are in a lethal hypothermic state. He then ties down and lines up the group in an effort to execute all of them with a single bullet through their heads.
  • A man builds a house out of his victims' corpses.
  • After killing the 3rd woman and her kids, Jack brings their bodies to his cooling room. He takes "Grumpy" which he calls one of the two kids, and prepares his corpse, making the boy's corpse waving and smiling in a very haunting way, that he keeps looking like that when rigor mortis sets in.
  • A woman is tied up and gagged. You then see him take one breast and slice it off with a knife. The scene skips half way through and is later shown being placed on a police car windscreen. The second has been turned into a purse.
  • A small child's leg is nearly completely shot off, the shot hitting is not shown but heard, the aftermath is clearly shown.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • In the unrated cut, Jack kills two children and forces their mother to have a picnic with their corpses.
