The movie features the long-awaited return of Carry Goossens as Oscar Crucke, the original coach of amateur soccer team "F.C. De Kampioenen". Goossens left F.C. De Kampioenen (1990) in 1993 after starring four seasons. The crew retrieved and used the original trainer's hat as well as the exact clothes that Goossens wore as Oscar up until 22 years prior to the events of the movie.
The license plate of the van that Boma and Fernand drive to look for Dimitri and Doortje at the docks, reads: PIC-025. This is a reference to the original character Pico Coppens (Walter Michiels). Due to his difficult private situation (he had slipped off and became a vagabond) Michiels had never been able to smooth things over and reprise his role as Pico since his dismissal in 1993. With the license plate a small tribute to Michiels's character was paid.
