Lady Gaga is five-foot two inches tall and still growing.
“I’m actually five-foot three and three quarters,” she clarified at Saturday’s MTV Movie and TV Awards.
The New York-born pop magnet, whose “Gaga: Five Foot Two” won best music documentary at the MTV event, has been largely out of the public eye since ending her Joanne World Tour in January, which grossed over $95 million in ticket sales.
Sitting backstage after the MTV taping, draped in black, she tells Variety she’s been holed up in the studio, readying for what could be the most pivotal year of her career, which will see her first major movie role in “A Star Is Born” opposite Bradley Cooper, a two-year Las Vegas residency that kicks off in December, and oh yeah, she’s working on a new album.

"The idea that someone didn't like it, didn't really phase me." Hulu has premiered the trailer for the new feature-length documentary titled Obey Giant: The Art & Dissent of Shepard Fairey, which will be available on Hulu starting this weekend. Made by Oscar-winning documentarian James Moll, the film profiles the life and work of artist Shepard Fairey, following his roots in punk rock and skateboarding to his creation of the iconic Obama Hope poster and the controversy that surrounds it. We're big fans of street art and the artists behind controversial street art, including Banksy (including his two docs Exit Through the Gift Shop and Banksy Does New York) and many others. Fairey is also a prominent, well-respected artist and this seems like a fascinating, exciting look at his life and all of his work. I really want to watch this doc. Who better to reveal the woman behind Lady Gaga -- removed from the meat dresses and crustacean headdresses and other trappings of her pop star persona -- than a filmmaker who once tried to shine a light on Banksy, the most elusive artist in recent history? In Gaga: Five Foot Two, now streaming on Netflix, documentarian Chris Moukarbel (Banksy Does New York) pulls back the curtain on the Haus of Gaga for a cinema vérité look at the life of Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta. Et spoke with Moukarbel, and in addition to discussing how he gained Gaga's trust, what still scares the singer and the postponement of her world tour due to complications of fibromyalgia, he explained how following Lady Gaga was a much different experience than chasing the shadow of Banksy.
"This was about feeling like you're in the present moment with her," Moukarbel said. “Not only do I avoid using much archival footage or going...

"You've gotta leave yourself behind..." Netflix has debuted the full-length trailer for the documentary called Gaga: Five Foot Two, an inside look at the life of Lady Gaga filmed over eight months. Directed by the filmmaker of Banksy Does New York and Me at the Zoo, the film goes intimately behind the scenes with "pop provocateur" Lady Gaga as she releases a bold new album and prepares for her Super Bowl halftime show. This just premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last week to quite a bit of pomp and circumstance. The doc will be available on Netflix at the end of this week, so add it to your list and watch it this weekend. The reviews are good! Jazz Tangcay from Awards Daily says it "will fascinate fans and non-fans alike as they get a look inside her world and a newfound respect is born." This actually seems impressive.

A documentary filmmaker known for works including Banksy Does New York, director Chris Moukarbel is very familiar with the portrait of an artist as a form. Skilled at honing—and fascinated by—the “story behind the story”—Moukarbel was ultimately the perfect fit to helm Gaga: Five Foot Two, a Tiff-premering documentary that takes viewers into the life of Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, and her performative alter ego, Lady Gaga. Speaking with Live Nation execs about…...

Premiering, no doubt by minutely planned design, at the Toronto Film Festival just as its subject glides through Canada on her world tour, documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two offers fans of pop star Lady Gaga an artfully casual, precisely spontaneous glimpse into the life of their idol, filmed in 2016 while she was working on her latest album Joanne. Directed and filmed by Chris Moukarbel (Banksy Does New York, Me at the Zoo), and produced not just by him and Live Nation’s Heather Parry but also Gaga herself and her manager Bobby Campbell, this is certainly an entertaining enough watch,...

International pop superstar Lady Gaga has yet to see the probing new documentary that follows her during the fallout of her “Artpop” release and the creation of her follow-up “Joanne,” but that doesn’t mean that the Netflix original hasn’t already struck a major chord in her heart. In advance of the film’s Toronto International Film Festival premiere this evening (set to be followed by an “intimate” performance by the singer-songwriter), Gaga and director Chris Moukarbel were on hand for a press conference, during which the icon was open about the emotional effect of the months documented in the festival, and reflective about her own future.
While Gaga and Moukarbel (who previously directed “Me at the Zoo” and “Banksy Does New York”) did not know each other before embarking on the project in 2016, she praised the filmmaker for being “respectful of my space, even when it was very private moments.

Even if you thought you knew everything about her and have seen other films about her, this seems to be a very definitive inside look at her kooky, crazy, wild life and all that drives her to be so bold and innovative. I'm especially intrigued to see how she is involved in the creative process beyond just her music, with concerts and more.

Some critics derided Avengers: Age of Ultron as bloated, bombastic and nonsensical, but Australian moviegoers clearly dismissed or didn.t read the reviews
The Marvel blockbuster directed by Joss Whedon captured $15.7 million last weekend and $17.1 million including Wednesday night previews.
That.s the third biggest 4-day opening of all time behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
The superhero adventure starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Mark Ruffalo eclipsed the 2012 debut of The Avengers, which raked in $13.3 million.
To be fair, the original opened on a Wednesday, Anzac Day, making $6 million on that day, and finished up with a towering $53.2 million.
The Disney release accounted for a whopping 71% of the entire market as nationwide receipts shot up by 34% to $22.1 million, according to Rentrak.s estimates. The four-day tally was up 18.5% on last year.

"Banksy Does New York" by Chris Moukarbel chronicles the month-long residence that the pseudonymous British street artist, political activist, painter and film director, from Bristol, England, known as ‘Banksy’ ("Exit Through the Gift Shop"), displayed throughout the city of New York last October, 2013.
For those who don’t know Banksy, no one has ever seen him before. His fans want to be the first to see his work, the police want to catch him in the act, and the collectors want to display his work in galleries. So last October s/he and his team, Pest Control, and Holly Cushing announced that the graffiti street artist would display one piece of art somewhere within the five boroughs, one a day for the entire month of October, 2013.
One piece of art work per day in an undisclosed place around New York, eluding to where it might be via social media, sent his followers on a scavenger hunt frenzy, as they hoped to be the first to arrive, filmmakers filming or requesting footage from others, bringing out the best and sometimes the worst in people.
Act fast, catch him if you can, because, often times, the works were painted over a few hours later, because it was painted on private property. Also, everyday was not a painting, there were also video clips, a display of a skeleton sitting in a bumper car, and gimmicks, selling his work at a kiosk near the Metropolitan Museum for only $60.00 making only $420.00 for the day, meanwhile unsuspecting customers found out later that they were worth $250,000 each. Auctions with one of his works raising $615,000 for the Housing Works, also the occasional entrepreneur or con artists covering his works with a cardboard box and asking spectators for $5.00 to snap a photo of it.
Has he become a sell out now that he has become more commercial and well known? Spot jockeying placing his artwork near others?
Day 1: Les: Allen Street, 4 hours later, it was painted over.
Day 2: Chelsea: 25th Street and 10th Ave

In October 2013, when anonymous street artist Banksy did a monthlong residency in New York, documentary filmmaker Chris Moukarbel wasn't there. He didn't know he would be doing a movie on the subject until weeks later, when HBO documentary president Sheila Nevins suggested a film chronicling the city in the grip of Banksy fever. His film was already shot, out there online somewhere; he just had to go find it and edit it. The finished product is Banksy Does New York, premiering on HBO on Nov. 17. During October of 2013, New York City and the global art world were buzzing about infamous graffiti artist Banksy’s monthlong residency in the city, “Better Out Than In.” Today marks the one-year anniversary of the end of that residency and HBO has released a new trailer for the documentary of Banksy’s NYC shenanigans, “Banksy Does New York.” Billed as “a user-generated film,” the Chris Moukarbel-directed movie looks like it incorporates a significant amount of footage that Banksy fans posted on sites like Instagram or Vine. It’s a short trailer—just over a minute long—and focuses on the excitement that flowed through social media when Banksy’s stint in New York City began. “Banksy Does New York” airs on HBO on Monday, November 17th, at 9 Pm, or can watch it on HBO Go right now. We first wrote about this documentary a few months ago, originally posting a video of Banksy showcasing his own work, not actually a trailer. HBO has, finally, launched a trailer for the documentary Banksy Does New York that they're airing in November. It'll actually be available starting this Friday via the HBO Go app, so if this captures your attention there isn't too long of a wait to see it. The trailer shows a doc that seems to be indeed based on "user-generated footage", with pop up tweets and videos, but there's not much to it. I honestly was expecting to see more, especially with Banksy putting together a three minute trailer. Maybe more will come, then again I want to watch this doc right now anyway. More on Banksy's NY show. Here's the first trailer for Chris Moukarbel's doc Banksy Does New York, direct from HBO's YouTube: From...
