At one time Jack Walker was the biggest action star in the world. Well, the biggest action star in Germany. But those days are long gone, and even the Dtv film offers have dried up. With the bills piling up he has no choice but to take a role in an uber low-budget film he feels is beneath him.
His feelings seem to be confirmed when Steve (Ben Plunkett-Reynolds; Jack and Ralph Plan a Murder), the director, and his assistant Piet (Bartholomäus Kowalski; Ultimate Justice) are having issues and the stunts keep going wrong. The presence of co-star Sylvia Meadows (Kathrin Höhne; The Hitman Agency) keeps Jack in a good mood though.

"These are sharks... but they can fly, you say?" Dark Sky Films has released an official trailer for a totally ridiculous action CGI-spectacle called Sky Sharks, from filmmaker Marc Fehse. First there was Iron Sky, then there was Sharknado, then there was the Iron Sky sequel (The Coming Race), now there's Sky Sharks. After an arctic research team discovers a long-lost Nazi warship frozen in the ice, they inadvertently unleash the Third Reich's unknown secret weapon: Sky Sharks. What if the Nazis had been secretly developing giant modified flying sharks flown by undead super-humans? Yeah, that's all they've got for a concept this time. The film's cast includes Tony Todd, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Eva Habermann, Naomi Grossman, Amanda Bearse, Robert Lasardo, and Dave Sheridan. This is one of the strangest trailers you'll ever see, with barely any good footage, and a title placed over a random shot of a city. Huh?...

Deep in the ice of the antarctic, a team of geologists uncover an old nazi laboratory still intact where dark experiments had occured. In order to conquer the world, the Nazis created modified sharks who were able to fly and whose riders are genetically mutated, undead super-humans. A miltary task force called “Project: Dead Flesh” – reanimated US soldiers who fell in Vietnam – is put together to prevent world downfall.

Few low budget creature features made this century have enjoyed quite as much advance excitement among fans as Sky Sharks, which had the honour of opening this year's Frightfest. It seemed to have all the right ingredients for a trash cinema sensation. With a secret Nazi cult trying to take over the world using genetically engineered flying sharks, how can you go wrong? Alas, quite easily, it seems.
Perhaps due to its dependence on fundraising from fans, Sky Sharks feels like a film made by committee - and not a very well disciplined committee at that. It's all over the place; rather than a coherent story, it's basically a series of gags and sketch ideas strung together in amateur fashion, giving viewers absolutely no reason to care about what's happening. There's no character development to speak of and the acting is atrocious, but not in a fun, hammy way -.

Some 25 films have been announced to celebrate the 21st bloody year of a beloved genre film festival. As we heard in June, Arrow Video FrightFest is going virtual for its next edition, which will be held, as is tradition, over the August Bank Holiday. This year, that means the dates from Friday 28th August to Mon 31st August, inclusive. Opening night will kick off a live-streamed quiz, hosted by Mike Muncer; I'm sure that rumours that losing contestants will be offered as human sacrifices to the god of the winner's choice are entirely false. (*ahem*). That will be followed by the UK premiere of Sky Sharks, sure to offer an abundance of aerial terrors. What else will be on offer? Frankly, I am not...

Much to no one’s surprise annual horror celebration FrightFest has had to move its line up to an online only event to keep horror fans safe during this time of real life horror. But the good news is, the gang has still managed to source heaps of exciting things to watch on the August bank holiday weekend, from home.
Now the full line up has been announced and it’s packed with world and UK premieres. Unfortunately for US readers, the movies are geo-locked and only able to be watched from the UK (though the quiz and Den Of Geek’s panel are both free and available to watch from anywhere).

Marc Fehse and his Sky Sharks team have unleashed an epic new trailer for their new film, featuring some pretty dazzling visual FX work. Taking a page from Iron Sky, Sky Sharks has captured the imagination of cult film fans the world over with its far-out premise and overall level of craftsmanship. I know I say this every single year, but it really is hard for me to believe that we’re now less than two months away from Flashback Weekend 2018. With the highly-anticipated horror Death House being released in cinemas on 23rd February 2018, I got a chance to speak with actor Yan Birch about the legacy of People Under the Stairs (1991), his character in Death House and hanging out with friends on the set.
How did you first get into acting?
My father was in the business in Sweden. Mostly Cabarets and Comedy shows. He was also a musician, so I grew up in a very creative arts environment. I started with music and then moved on to hosting a TV-Show in my teens. Then it continued from there.
You have had various roles over your career, but you are best known for your performance the Stairmaster from People Under the Stairs (1991). Did you think that the character would still be so popular over 25 years later?
I had no idea that anything like this would happen… I did know anything...

Some concepts pretty much sell themselves and Mark Fehse's Sky Sharks is very much one of those. Picture, if you will, Nazi zombies riding jet propelled sharks through the skies in a revived reign of terror. Now imagine dropping cult icons Tony Todd and Robert Lasardo, among others, into the madness. Voila. You have Sky Sharks. And it's every bit as cazy as you'd hope. A team of Arctic geologists stumble across an abandoned laboratory in which the Nazis developed an incredible and brutal secret weapon during the final months of WW2. Deep in the ice, they accidentally awake a deadly army of flying zombie sharks ridden by genetically mutated, undead super-humans, who are unleashed into the skies, wreaking their bloodthirsty revenge on any aircraft...

The "Friday the 13th" franchise's crop of Final Girls are known for their keen survival instincts onscreen, but the careers of the actresses who played them? Not quite as impressive. When was the last time you heard the name "Amy Steel"? Dana Kimmell? Melanie Kinnaman? In celebration of Friday the 13th, here's our brief rundown of the post-"F13" careers of every Final Girl in the (original) franchise, from Adrienne King to Lexa Doig. "Friday the 13th" (1980) Adrienne King (Alice Hardy) After briefly reprising her role in the film's 1981 sequel, King became the victim of a stalker (the man ultimately pulled a gun on her). Shaken by the experience, she didn't return to acting until the 2010 low-budget horror/sci-fi film "Psychic Experiment." "Friday the 13th Part 2" (1981) Amy Steel (Ginny) Steel actually has two claims to fame in the horror genre, as she also starred in the 1986 pseudo-slasher "April Fool's Day.

Sky Sharks poster
As shambling post-human zombies take a well earned rest, sharks are fast becoming the number one stars of the B-movie world. Sky Sharks looks at what happens when geologists in the Arctic accidentally awaken an army of flying zombie sharks ridden by Nazi supermen who are bent on world conquest. According to director Marc Fehse it has everything genre fans want: "flying sharks, Nazi zombies, nude girls, a lot of action and blood, nonsense and good looking CG FX and real blood FX," so there’s no need to see more than one film. Although the film is still in production, we spoke to Marc for an early insight into what else viewers can look forward to.
"I drank too much!" he exclaims when asked how the idea for the film came about. "First, I asked my brother what he thought about this idea sharks could live in the sky.

Mactropolis Films is developing an indie horror title called Sky Sharks. This film production company has developed features such as Legend of Hell (2012), The Power of Soul (2013) and Spores (2015). Their latest deals with Nazi flying sharks, likely trying to capitalize on films like Sharknado (2013). Sky Sharks stars Robert Lasardo, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and Nick Principe. Now, several posters, including character posters, are hosted here. To expand on the outlandish story, several geologists discover a Nazi laboratory. Located in the Arctic, this laboratory houses secret weapons and biological agents. The geologists unleash disturbing experiments, including flying sharks and the undead. Now, the skies are full of rotting flesh and razor sharp cartilage. Humanity must fight the unvanquishable! Currently, Sky Sharks is in the early stages of production. The film might be ready to fly in 2017. For now, fans of b-movies or of indie horror titles can view several graphics for the film.
