As readers of R.L. Stine's Say Cheese and Die! books in his Goosebumps series know, not all old cameras can be trusted, and some can even be deadly. Such is the case in Dimension Films' upcoming horror film Polaroid, which now has a December 1st release date, several months later than its original August 25th slot.

There's a new horror movie coming out called Polaroid and it revolves around an antique Polaroid camera that will kill anyone who has their picture taken by it. Yeah, it sounds like a silly concept, and that's because it is. That doesn't mean it won't entertain some people, though.
The film comes from the producers of The Ring and The Grudge and it's based on a short film by Lars Klevberg. The description for the film says it's "the next iconic and bold new vision in horror." I imagine they are looking to turn this into the next big horror franchise. Here's the synopsis:
High school loner Bird Fitcher has no idea what dark secrets are tied to the Polaroid vintage camera she stumbles upon, but it doesn’t take long to discover that those who have their picture taken meet a tragic end.

If the new trailer for upcoming horror, Polaroid is anything to go by we think we’ll be sticking digital cameras for the foreseeable… Prepare to feel that antique chill run down your spine.
Based on a short by Lars Klevberg, the horror delves into a new type of haunting with an evil entity taking residence inside an antique Polaroid camera, an entity that preys and devours all those that innocently dare to pose for a picture picking off high school teens like it’s dining out on a pack of Haribo.
The cast includes Mitch Pileggi as the adult “voice of reason,” who seemingly exists just to tell the kids “No, that antique polaroid camera is not causing all of your suspicious deaths” – to be subsequently proved wrong in front of his very eyes. It features Javier Botet, the Spanish actor who has made a career...

"Sometimes to deal with tragedies we make up urban legends." The Weinstein Company / Dimension Films has debuted the official trailer for a horror film titled Polaroid, about an Polaroid camera that kills people. Well, not exactly. The story is about a high schooler who finds an old Polaroid camera, and anyone who gets their picture taken by it will die in a "violent and tragic death." Not the most original concept, but seems like it has some good kills in it. Starring Kathryn Prescott, Mitch Pileggi, Grace Zabriskie, Tyler Young, Keenan Tracey, Samantha Logan, Priscilla Quintana, Madelaine Petsch and Javier Botet. This is based on the horror short Polaroid also from director Lars Klevberg, who is making his feature debut here. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Lars Klevberg's Polaroid movie, direct from TWC's YouTube: From the producers of the The Ring and The Grudge and based on...

Dimension Films has found the latest common household item for us all to be suddenly terrified by, releasing a trailer for its new horror film, Polaroid. The film—based on a short by Lars Klevberg—centers on an evil camera that doesn’t add ten pounds to anybody it photographs: It subtracts them, instead. All of them. Permanently. The camera kills people, is what we’re getting at. (Stop us if you’ve heard this one before.)
With Kathryn Prescott as the nerdy teen who finds the haunted antique, and The X-Files’ Mitch Peleggi stretching those old “disbelieve the crazy story” muscles as the town cop, the film sees Prescott and her fellow teen victims attempt to escape the evil camera’s curse. Presumably, we’ll get more flashes and snapshots of how that works out for them when the film arrives in theaters on August 25.

It has been a busy day for new feature film projects based on existing material.
First up, "Parenthood" duo Lauren Graham and Mae Whitman are teaming up to adapt Jessica Morgan and Heather Cocks' novel "The Royal We" for CBS Films. Graham will write the script for the project, which is being eyed as an acting vehicle for Whitman. The pair will also produce.
The story follows an American girl-next-door who moves to England to study at Oxford and falls in love with a fellow student, who happens to be the future King of England. There's also elements such as a red-headed troublemaking brother, her sudden tabloid fame and the royal family's many requirements.
Paramount Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer have nabbed the rights to S. Bergstrom's 2014 debut young adult action-thriller "The Cruelty". Bergstrom is already writing the next book in what could end up being a trilogy.
