Charming and heart warming.

If anyone would have told me I would get hooked on after a cheesy, American, "family" TV show, I would have been laughing my head off. Well, I started watching this one in order to proofread the Bulgarian subtitles on the 1-st episode. After I finished it, I simply forgot my original task and continued watching, until the whole 1st season was gone.

It's quite childish and cheesy, no doubt, but the girls are so cute and charming, one simply cannot resist them. Not to mention the flawless acting of all the members of the cast.

Great watch for any child, no matter the age. :)

To be honest, when we saw this in Prime I added it to our "watchlist" thinking it would be something that could play while just relaxing and vegging out.

After the first episode I realized that was not going to happen. Yes, the series seemed to center around 3 teenage girls who are best friends chosen by a "Book of Magic Recipes" to act as the "Protectors".. To balance them there are 3 more mature women who used to be best friends and Protectors but they let greed and ego interfere in their relationship. I must say I thought it was a very balanced cast between the younger and older generations.

With each season, the Book identifies then helps the Protectors solve a mystery involving magic by using the tools at hand and their brains forcing all involved to think "outside the box".

I have to hand it to the writers...they never wrote "down" to a young audience, but the writing is pretty straightforward so you don't have to worry about being confused as the story progresses. The names of the recipes they've come up with are pretty clever. Since using magic usually has a "down side", the Protectors past and present learn how to deal with it and, at times, look within.

I think it's a shame they only did 3 seasons because I can see the potential. I think the chemistry between the actors really helped to make the show as good as it was.

Now...it's time to see how the "spinoff" series is.

Awesome. Great story! Immediately after the show ended my kids (all four of them -- ages 15, 14, 12 and 9) asked to watch the next episode. However, only the pilot is available. When will we get the rest? They're eager to see them. For what it's worth, never have ALL of my kids liked the same show! My oldest daughter thought "it was cool." My youngest daughter repeatedly asked if this was going to be scary. I told her I wasn't sure. (She loves scary shows.) I think she was excited by the uncertainty of the storyline. Franky, so was I. Also, I was amazed that both of my sons enjoyed the show as well. I think they were intrigued by the magic aspect of the story. Everyone is now sitting here on the couch wondering when we'll be able to see the rest.

I have 3 boys ages 9, 11, 13. A lot of the shows they like I'm not quite as impressed with. We stumbled upon this show a couple weeks ago and we have watched episodes as time and homework allow. As boys I wasn't sure they would like it but they wanted to give it a shot and we are all so glad for it. Even as boys they were immediately drawn into the storyline. They didn't care that the main characters were girls. The characters were interesting and kept my boys guessing and hypothesizing about intentions. The young girl actors were surprisingly good. So much better than what we find on Disney or Nick nowadays. I really hope to see them in more projects...and in more seasons of "Just Add Magic". The value of friendship and family is strong in each episode. And each episode had a moral or lesson but they didn't hit you over the head with it. They were situations that my kids could generally relate to.

We were disappointed when we watched the season finale. Not because of the show, but because it was the finale. We really hope the show comes back for another season! We need more magic!

Season 3 PLEASE

Such a great kids show. Instead of the usual over-acting that plagues Disney and Nickelodeon you have great actors all around with a plot that keeps you guessing. They all have really fleshed out characters and real feeling relationships. It's moral, they learn from their mistakes, try to make things right. You just don't get a show like this for kids anymore.

"Just add Magic" is a great family friendly show that we all enjoyed!

We watched "Just add Magic" as a family tonight, with my two youngest Boy 10 & Girl 12. The first thing the kids said after the first show ended was, "Lets watch the next one!" That's when we realized we had just watched the pilot preview. Right away they went online to see when the next upcoming episodes would be airing. As a parent what I liked the most about this new show, were the values & lessons taught, that the 11 year old female characters in the show look and act their age, and the subject matter was just good, clean old fashion innocent family TV viewing for once! No gore, lust, immodesty or language. I also liked the fact that three tween-agers were actually nice to one another, and everyone else. Little to no cattiness! What there was, was addressed and attitude problems solved. From my 12 yr old daughter; ~ Kept our attention during the whole program ~ Siblings acted like real siblings. ~ The suspense & cliff hangers left you wanting more! 10 year old son; ~ When the kids were kind and generous to others, good things happened, and lessons were learned. ~ It had magic, but fun happy magic, and not scary gory magic or things that would give you nightmares. ~ I liked that kids my age did great cooking, and that their families let them do it by themselves in the kitchen like you let us do.

A magical journey

Just Add Magic is one of the best shows out there right now. It is entertaining, educational, and beautifully done. My brother, 15, and I, 21, enjoy watching this show together.

The characters feel real and are given a depth that is rare in children's shows. They make mistakes and disappoint each other, but they own up to it and take responsibility for their actions.

The plot is not dumbed down & has many twists & turns that make it unique. It's entertaining from start to finish.

Just Add Magic may be aimed at younger audiences, but it does not treat the characters as though they are too young. They are capable, strong & brilliant. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Dude, this show slaps. I loved watching it as a kid, and it's still awesome now. Well, the original, that is. Spin-off with the new kids sucked. Like really sucked. The actors didn't have chemistry, and weren't even that good of actors, and the characters were just annoying. The problems they faced were also way confusing to watch, and felt like I was watching some Disney Channel movie instead of the show I used to enjoy. The "villains" aren't even as cool as Chuck or Charolette (whatever her name was idk) were. Would've been a full 10/10 if they hadn't made the spin-off . But AS LONG AS YOU STICK WITH THESE GUYS, you're sure to find an epic show.

Season one was okay, but season 2 is iffy. A thing I find in this show is that it can't choose its antagonist, or it's own plot.

I don't know how ,but they really nailed it with this series . Its unpredictability and twists keep you hooked . Its such a clean , morally conscious and family friendly drama (unlike any other that i have seen ) that it sets a really great example on both kids and adults . Hats off to all the team. I cannot recommend this show enough.Great production , acting , and choice of music throughout the show ...

Amazing show

While browing on Amazon Prime, I came across this show. Actually my wife suggested it. We both started watching it and became obsessed with it. Complete family show, specially liked baking part. All 3 girls - Kelly, Darbie, Hanna were really amazing. Would like tp watch their episodes again & again. Favorite pastime in work from home scenario.

I would hope to see many seasons for this show.

A totally awesome show

Gonna be quick, this is a delight. It falls in the same vein as Gortimer Gibbons and other awesome magical realism made in the earlier days of streaming TV.

Kelly Quinn, Hannah Parker-Kent and Darbie O'Brien are all enjoyable characters, and so are the others. The only characters that annoyed me a bit were Ida and Becky, who were slightly irritating in parts.

The CGI or visual effects are not overused, and with a stellar score, this is probably the most feel-good, clean show on Amazon.

I'd recommend this to anybody who needs something fun and snappy; and something they can enjoy with the little ones. I agree with the TV-Y rating, I personally would consider this appropriate for ages 6 and above, and would recommend it to the same age group.

This is a great programme and really gripping! I'm really addicted 😂 I think it's best for 7 - 13 yos. There is nothing inappropriate whatsoever but it's not a show for babies either. Overall, I love this series, just be prepared to most probably be addicted!😂

This is a very good show. Yes, the target audience is kids, but it is a super fun show for anyone of any age who likes feel-good stories, magic, and themes of friendship. This sounds corny, but I promise the show is not. It is a lot of fun to watch and I hope it continues for a long time. It would be very interesting to see the future of the girls.

Lightweight kids show with some decent messages

I was told about this show because of the magic component to it. I'm obviously not the target demographic, but it has an interesting storyline, usually has a good message to it. Full of cheesy humor, but there have been a few genuine laugh out loud moments. As for the acting, the main kid characters do a pretty good job, but the adult actors take you out of it. Their acting is so wooden and tends to kill the scene when they are in it.

The music can be a little cheesy when they start cooking their recipes, and they usually have one of these cheesy scenes per episode. But there is something hilarious when they say "We need to cook." making me think of young teen Walter Whites.

Overall a good show with some good role model characters for young girls.

A must watch show

The show was awesome. I wish this show could never end. This site has taught me a lot about responsibility towards family and friends, trusting each other and a lot. This show should be watched by everyone in this world.

I watched this show 4 years ago fully I feel bad to say this but Just add magic' is actually pretty boring on the 1st Season I am not telling You Not to watch it. But after rewatching Season 1 I realised 2 things - .It gets Creepy on the 1st Episode!

.Mama P"s face at the end of the Ist episode is definitely creepy for 5-6 year olds.

Now I realised why they rated it PG-13 But Really Part 1 of Season 2 was the best out of the whole series it had such great suspense. Mystrey City should have had more seasons. But If you"re planning to show your 7,8,9,10,11,12,13+ It is perfect for them to watch.

I have seen series one and two.

Season One - This season is entertaining and clever. I had fun watching it. The effects were good and this version of magic was interesting.

Season Two - Everything about this is terrible. Maybe I didn't notice it in series one, or maybe they actually did get a massive budget cut. The acting is terrible and unconvincing. The script is atrocious. The effects are terrible. Everything about this movie feels cringy and fake. There is nothing about this season that is done well.

I would maybe recommend season one to a child - maybe. I would not recommend season two to anyone.

Might be probably the most enjoyable series that the whole family can watch.. Not shallow, very nice storyline that keeps you looking forward to the next episode.
