Taylor Swift doesn’t give a damn about her bad reputation. Or does she?
On her sixth studio album, Reputation, the Grammy winner, 27, plays with perception. Since rising to fame in 2006, Swift’s knack for super-personal storytelling has been a blessing and a curse. She’s one of the best-selling female artists of all-time. But she’s also fallen prey to the pitfalls of fame and, in recent years, has become as well-known for the headlines she makes as the music she releases.
And it’s her experience with fame — and how it’s influenced her reputation — that fuels her latest LP.

So much of what potential readers — and now, with a star-studded movie adaptation in production, potential watchers — need to know about Kevin Kwan’s smash hit novel “Crazy Rich Asians” is right there in the title. It’s about crazy, rich Asians, but it seems like some members of Hollywood didn’t quite get that at first. Oh, sure, they were down for the crazy part, the rich part, even the crazy-rich part, but the Asian stuff? Not so fast!
In a revealing new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kwan shared a strange experience he had in the early days of getting his novel made into a big screen property. The author told the outlet that during an early meeting with a potential producer, “the producer asked him to reimagine his protagonist, Rachel (played by Constance Wu in the film), as Caucasian. ‘That was their strategy,’ he remembers. ‘They wanted to...

Not so fast, guys. Last month, Brett Ratner, who was accused of sexual harassment earlier today, gave an interview in which he said that Jared Leto had contacted him to play Hugh Hefner in his biopic about the famed Playboy founder. But that movie ever becoming a reality seems highly unlikely because earlier today Playboy Enterprises said its involvement is "on hold" with Ratner amid the scandal and Leto's rep says that the Oscar is not attached to the movie and never was. Earlier today, Playboy Enterprises announced that the biopic (and all other projects with RatPac Entertainment) would be put on pause due to recent sexual assault allegations made against Ratner. The Thor: Ragnarok blowout continues.

Screen Rant’s report, meanwhile, concerns Jane Foster’s place in Thor: Ragnarok – or lack thereof. Phillip Gerard (Al Strobel) about midway through Part 16 of Mark Frost and David Lynch's Twin Peaks revival, right after a certain FBI Special Agent returns to the world of the living. It's been 13 episodes since we've seen full trace of Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan), though even then he wasn't entirely himself. (Being trapped for 25 years in the otherworldly Black Lodge has a way of tempering certain personality traits.) Now, however, he's "one hundred percent" (in his estimation, anyway), and there's certainly plenty of giddy pleasure to be had watching the energetic, Boy Scout-like Cooper of old take charge. But that presumes that this is the Dale Cooper of old, and it quickly becomes apparent that that's not the case.

That about sums up King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, an epic bore that believes if you make a movie long and loud and repetitive enough, audiences will conclude it's saying something profound. Wrong.

Fox is not giving up without a fight because we've learned they have come back into the "American Idol" bidding war with what one source connected with the negotiations called an "over-the-top offer." TMZ broke the story ... ABC is far, far along in making a deal to reboot the show for a March 2018 launch. The deal isn't signed but ABC hopes to announce the show at the Upfronts in about a week. Not so fast.

Movies stuck in development hell fascinate me. I’ve read all of the books published on the most famous cases, keep tabs on current ones, and always enjoy speculating what might become of them. Currently, one of the highest profile films stuck in this situation is Triple Frontier. Once upon a time, Kathryn Bigelow was looking to make this her follow up to The Hurt Locker. Bigelow had a script by partner Mark Boal ready to go and a cast that was led by Johnny Depp, Tom Hanks, and Will Smith. Sounds like slam dunk talent all around and a surefire awards player, right? Well, it seemingly wasn’t to be. Bigelow and Boal were never able to get it off the ground. Obviously, they moved on to Zero Dark Thirty and have since also made Detroit, due for release in a few months. Last year, it seemed like the...

“How do you know when an executive officer is telling lies? His lips move.” So said Si Ted Hastings reporting back after lunching with Acc Hilton in Line Of Duty series four episode one. It was a characteristically wry comment from Hastings, a character who brooks no truck with bent coppers and PR-manipulators like Hilton. Was it, though, more than that? Was Ted calling Hilton a liar a crucial clue as to what’s really...

Not so fast, everyone… Despite the latest reports claiming that Ben Affleck is already hitting the dating scene just one week after he and Jennifer Garner filed for divorce, a source tells E! News that simply isn't the case. "Ben is not dating anyone seriously," our inside explained. "He and Jen are working on their relationship and have no ruled out dating in the future." So what is in store for the two friendly exes? Well, aside from continuing to co-parent as they have been over the course of the last two years (they first announced their split back in 2015), it looks like Affleck will be moving out of the family home. "As divorced couples do, Ben will likely move...

Kathryn Palmer isn't giving up on finding the one. While she didn't meet her happily ever after on Are You the One?, the MTV reality star has sparked some new romance rumors with The Bachelorette's Robby Hayes. Just last week, the pair posted photos on Instagram after a visit to the Jacksonville Zoo. Kathryn also got her followers talking when she shared a separate photo with Robby. "They say Florida State has the best looking students.... I agree," she wrote during another night out. So, are these two a new Hollywood couple? Not so fast. "We've been talking a little bit over Instagram and then he got my number and then we chatted a little....

The first 10 minutes of “The Fate of the Furious” have everything that you could ever ask for in a “Fast and the Furious” movie, or any other movie for that matter. Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) swaggers through the streets of Havana, tasting the local flavor as a bass-heavy Cuban pop song bangs on the soundtrack. The sun is shining, the cars are classics, and the girls are wearing hot pink thongs that make their butts pop off the screen like they’ve been post-converted into 3D. It’s like someone threw a Pitbull video and forgot to invite him.
Then, as Dom comes across a weirdly well-organized group of local auto fetishists, he finds his younger cousin being antagonized by the baddest guy in town. But there’s an easy solution to this problem. You see, Dom lives by a code, and that code is simple: “All human conflict can...

Live streaming services from DirecTV Now to YouTube TV, which launched this week, are selling themselves to potential customers by advertising the fact that you can watch pro sports like NFL games and seamlessly transition from TV to smartphone. Not so fast. Because the NFL has a $1 billion-a-year mobile rights deal with Verizon, only subscribers of that cell service can actually watch the NFL on their phones through one of those services — a major flaw in a theoretical, frictionless TV-anywhere future. And as TV watchers migrate from traditional pay-tv bundles to internet streaming services — Time Warner CEO Jeff...

Peace and love on Sugar Bear's wedding day? Not so fast! We're just one day away from the season finale of Mama June: From Not to Hot. And while viewers eagerly wait to witness Sugar Bear and Jennifer's wedding, E! News has an exclusive clip leading up to the ceremony. Before exchanging vows, Sugar Bear invites his ex Mama June over to his home to help prevent any serious conflict. "I'm not here today to argue. I'm here to support Alana. I don't want this to be a s--t show," Mama June explains. "When Jennifer disinvited me, I think that was a little bit kind of crazy but I'm hoping that you were able to control her because I know that you're the quiet one and...

No matter how hard audiences try to kill it, the Terminator franchise doesn’t seem to ever want to go down. Following Terminator Salvation, one would expect that exploration in this world would be spent, but Paramount found a way to return to the well with Terminator: Genisys. Sadly, this film didn’t fare too with critics, and it fared even worse at the box office, taking only $440 million worldwide. It’s not a flop by any means, but on a $155 million budget, it likely barely just broken even when all said and done (taking into account print, advertising, and the theater’s cut of the gross.
With profits being so hard to come by in their latest entry, there was no reason for them to expect that another crack at it would make any difference. Just last month, we reported that Paramount had declined a chance to make...

Not so fast Savant — with the help of correspondent input, DVD Savant presents more information on David Swift’s adaptation of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying — correcting and modifying some assumptions in my first review. Don’t worry — it’s good reading.
A Savant article
This is an odd circumstance. I routinely update, modify, correct and de-stupidify DVD Savant reviews, but this time I’m taking a more radical step. In my March 25 coverage of Twilight Time’s Blu-ray of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, I made a big point of the fact that David Swift’s film adaptation had not made many changes. Several songs were dropped, but that would seem the right thing to do considering that the movie wasn’t planned as a Road Show — it’s only 121 minutes in duration and has no break for an intermission. The much missed...

A lot of people consider it spring as soon as the snow starts to melt and a flower or two blooms. But — and we hardly need to tell you this! — we TV fanatics are a breed apart. To us, it isn’t spring until TVLine has dropped its annual May Sweeps Scorecard. And guess what — today’s the day!
As always, the spoilergasm is overflowing with teasers about who’s getting knocked off, knocked up or just knocked down a peg or two before the end of Sweeps (and, not coincidentally, so many series’ season finales). When you see a [Spoiler] tag,...

“X-Men” producer Lauren Shuler Donner posted a photo Friday from a recent table read for her new Marvel series on Fox, and it’s got fans all stirred up. Not so fast, according to EW. Also Read: 'The Vampire Diaries' Sinks Teeth Into 1-Year TV Ratings High With Shocking Finale Death The website reported Saturday that Morgan was simply “filling in for the read-through.
