- Maura finally comes out to Ali, and they join Sarah on a field trip to the mall - where they all get rude lessons in womanhood. Josh is forced to confront his past thanks to questions from Syd (Carrie Brownstein) about his longtime relationship with Rita.—Anonymous
- Maura comes out to Ali, which provides Sarah another outlet to talk about this new phase of their father's life, and which leaves Josh as the last offspring to who it is Maura's responsibility to come out. Although Ali is supportive of her father to her face - Maura who Ali now calls "moppa" - she is a little less supportive in private as demonstrated by an incident on a girls' family outing, when Maura faces one of the many uncertain issues as a transgendered person in public. Meanwhile, Sarah has left Len on the assumption that her and Tammy's mutual declaration of love and Tammy's statement that she wants to be with her for the rest of their lives means a committed relationship between the two. However Sarah may discover that Tammy is not quite at the same place in her thinking. And now that Kaya is out of his life, Josh has moved onto another sexual relationship about which he does not want Ali specifically to know. That relationship leads to Josh needing to find out how far the knowledge of his and Rita's relationship went when she was his sitter when he was a teenager.—Huggo
