Despite all the criticism directed towards the series’ fanservice and the subsequently worsening animation of the anime, Nakaba Suzuki’s The Seven Deadly Sins is a well-known manga title with a solid fanbase. The series does offer some interesting shonen moments and fans of the series have managed to filter out the not-so-good aspects in order to see the true essence of the story. The manga received a sequel in the form of the Four Knights of the Apocalypse manga, which follows a new generation of heroes while revealing what happens to the old ones.
The sequel manga is still ongoing, with 15 volumes as of the time of writing; the manga premiered in 2021. An anime adaptation premiered on October 8, 2023, and ended its first season with 22 episodes. First season, you say?! Based on a Japanese fantasy manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Nakaba Suzuki, “The Seven Deadly Sins” may not bring something new to the vast plethora of shonen anime coming out from Japan, but includes enough elements to deem it a rather entertaining title.

A dangerous looking but also quite scruff knight enters the tavern, causing a ruckus with the customers, who think he is one of the Seven Deadly Sins, the strongest of the Liones’s Kingdom’s Holy Knight orders that have been branded as wanted criminals for supposedly betraying the kingdom ten years before.
