- Open surrounded by dead bodies, most of them appearing to have been cut up almost like in battle. A boy who had been playing dead stands up and begins to run. We see an angel overheard and Michael lands next to him. Michael reaches out his hand to the boy and says "Don't be afraid."
In present day Gabriel takes over the body of Louis, a secret angel who works as a food merchant.
We see an angel rummaging though a trailer that has two charred corpses sitting out front. Michael arrives and places the angel in custody at a nearby building. Angel works on the angel, named Durge, practicing his ability to "evict" the angel. We see that Alex has been struggling to perfect the technique. Alex gives up and kills the angel. Michael is worried that Alex should stop "doing this to yourself."
We see William taking care of Whele, who is bed-ridden after the ritual. Whele says he'll never follow Gabriel and thinks his son is doing this as a type of revenge.
Claire tells William she wants to move the wedding forward to the following week. She wants to up the timeline to take the pressure of running the city off of her father. He's been telling people that his father has pneumonia.
In the shower Norma asks Alex why he's been so down. She playfully slaps him cracks him up. She refers to him being the chosen which leads to sex in an adjacent closet.
Gabriel (in Louis' body) goes to see an angel acquaintance who works at a hospital. He attempts to convince him that aligning with Gabriel could be smart.
During a run Becca comes upon a number of angel bodies, including the one we saw Louis/Gabriel meet with the day before. Michael is brought to the scene and Becca asks if he knew there were higher angels living as humans in Vega. He says he lied to the senate in order to keep everyone happy. Riesen arrives and Becca attempts to lie to him about what Michael knew. Riesen sees right through it.
Alex tells Ethan that what happened to those angels is a bad thing, since it will make everyone paranoid. Ethan is happy.
Michael takes Alex aside, worried that perhaps Alex was responsible. Alex isn't powerful enough. He says the three dead angels were "neutrals," and there are more. Michael wants to alert the other higher angels in hiding and tells Alex to see Louis, warning him of what is happening.
Whele breaks out of his room with a knife. He runs into a security guard and asks for help. But it turns out the guard is working with Williams and brings Whele to where he keeps his pet lion.
Michael arrives at Uriel's place. He finds the home destroyed and a drunken Uriel chugging champagne. She says Gabriel forcefully took the ledger from her. She also was forced to tell Gabriel which neutrals were living in Vega. They wonder how Gabriel has been able to kill the angels so easily. Uriel doesn't think he's strong enough to take over control of a high angel.
Alex arrives at Louis' place. Clearly Gabriel was killing the angels in an effort to get close to Alex. Louis/Gabriel says he knows Michael well and begins to tell Alex about the book of Genesis. He tells Alex the real story of Noah involved building a bunker to protect people from a specific person.
William speaks to his father while Whele is standing in front of the lion's cage. He tells his father to open a box sitting front of him. Inside there is a gun and Whele immediately points it at Whele. There is one bullet. The lion's cage is opened and the cat walks towards Whele. William thinks Whele needs to be saved. Whele says he'll never bow down to an angel but ultimately is forced to shoot the animal.
Norma finds Alex still very preoccupied. She asks what's going on and he suggests they don't really know Michael all that well and references the tattoo about not believing those close to you.
Louis calls Alex and tells him there is an emergency at the stratosphere and needs him to come alone. At the stratosphere Alex finds Louis comfortably sitting in a chair. He says he knows who the killer is. Norma walks in and Louis shoves her out the window. But instead of falling to her death Norma sprouts wing and flies off.
Later Alex is furious with Michael for not telling him Norma was a higher angel. Michael thinks he can still trust her and says he was using Norma to watch over Alex. Michael is upset with Alex for questioning his motives. Michael then figures out Gabriel is in possession of Louis. Gabriel/Louis says he's using the possession to tell Alex the truth. Alex tries to evict Gabriel from Louis. The eviction works and Gabriel is sent to his home.
Uriel is waiting for Gabriel. He confirms that Alex is truly the special one. She wonders if killing several higher angels was worth it and he responds that since Michael is wound up, "it won't be long until we have another 'flood' on our hands."
We see Whele staring blankly into the distance while taking soup from his son.
We see that the higher angels attempted to flee the city and were killed. Norma is the only one to have survived. Alex tells Michael he's heard things from Louis/Gabriel about Michael's past and wants to know if they're true. Michael doesn't answer, but we return to the flashback from the opening of the episode. The boy takes Michael's hand just as Gabriel arrives. Gabriel saves the boy and we see that Michael was, in fact, responsible for all the deaths. Their father asked him to kill them because they'd begun to worship angels instead of father. Michael says he was "ensuring the natural order of things."
