"A Brave New World" is based on concepts from the book "The Discoverers" by Daniel Boorstin. Director/Screenwriter Garrett Thomas originally began the movie as a series of TV episodes based on the book, as a counter argument against the humanist teaching of Boorstin's book.
"A Brave New World" is the third installment of a series of history videos by Director Garrett Thomas. In the first episode, the focus is the history of "time." In the second, the focus is geography and human exploration. This final installment is about evolution and societal thinking.
The movie was filmed in two days across four locations, as opposed to a total three locations and three days filming for the first two episodes combined.
The original script actually had Thomas (which means "twin") as Gavin's exact double. The reason for this was because originally, Garrett Thomas was alone with DP Sarah Kitzmann after four different actors for Thomas were unable to take the position.
While the majority of the actors in "A Brave New World" have past experience in theater, this is Davis Dean's acting debut.
