I started reading Cora's books a couple of years ago. I decided to watch this film because I wanted to see what a writer could do as an animator. I was skeptical at first but the cut out animation is original. For those who don't know what cut out animation is, think of "SOUTH PARK." Cora's film is a more glossy looking version of cut out animation. I thought the entire film was well drawn and the plot was strong. The premise of the film is that Belinda (a teenage girl) gets caught up in a bad relationship with an older man. This film continues after Belinda is raped by the same older man in "HOT FEVER." Belinda tries to convince people that she was a rape victim but Elian foils Belinda's attempts at telling the truth. This film is not rated but this is not a film for children.

My Dear Cousin Belinda is a drama which should have been longer. I think the director could have done this movie greater justice by turning it into a 90 minute movie.The plot is interesting. The movie starts with Belinda trying to find a payphone because she is running away from a man who kidnapped her. Belinda is a teenage girl. I think she is supposed to be about 17 years old. Even though the film title implies that the movie is about the red haired beauty, I think Belinda is the least likable character in the film. She is interesting, she is self-centered, and very unlikable. The better characters are Elian and Sarah. Elian is the son of a sadistic, older man who kidnapped a little dark haired girl (Sarah Woodland). Elian seems to be in-love with Sarah and tries to help her escape. Sarah is also likable because she is just the victim and she is delightfully naive. I liked this movie and I especially liked the ending when Gary (the blonde boy) turns against Belinda.
