- In 1472-74, an Estonian prince-bishop pressed a team of monks under prior Bonifacius in his castle at Haapsalu to do his alchemy research to make gold. Young monk Jakob teams up with a gifted novice whose discovery of a wonder-healing elixir is discarded as 'wasted time', but discovers it's a maiden, until they secretly have a baby, only to be found out and executed. Present day, Haapsalu is a sleepy tourist town. Cop Tõnis Piir's son Markus and his airhead sister sell the legend of the white lady -the cross-dressing monk walled in alive- for antiques dealer Herman Krookus white lady. They soon team up with smart nerd tourist and his bossy sister who stay at Markus's parents' B&B to investigate, better then Tönis, a strange break-in at Krookus's shop and home, where only a clock was stolen, which turns out part of the legacy of a descendant of the prior, who hid the clue to a treasure in one clock from his collection, alas not among those Herman bought. They also duly suspects photographer and slick womanizer Stig Velson, who is after the same.—KGF Vissers
