- TriviaLight Up The Sky was a last minute fill-in on CBS's Ford TV Theatre June 14, 1949 after MGM wouldn't allow a TV adaptation of Edward, My Son to air on Ford's TV Theatre because the film starring Spencer Tracy was opening shortly at Radio City Music Hall so MGM didn't want to risk reducing its box office. At the last minute the original Broadway cast of Moss Hart's Light Up The Sky starring Sam Levene as Sidney Black, Barry Nelson as Peter Sloan, Glenn Anders as Carleton Fitzgerald and Audrey Christie as Sam Levene's wife Frances Black was recruited for a Live TV version for Ford TV Theatre, the first time any of these actors appeared on Live TV. Because the Broadway show closed just three weeks earlier on May 21, 1949, the cast had to unlearn their parts as the TV version was an hour shorter. On top of that, there was no TV script, plus the cast didn't even have contracts and needed ample rehearsal to air Live in four days.
