Sergei Petrovich asks for a cameraman to videotape the games, and he quickly learns that his assistant coach Romanenko and the building manager Vadim don't like change. A figure skater attracts Ponomaryov, who, we learn, has to deal with an alcoholic father and who works as a courier to provide for his grandmother. The team's scoring leader, Sasha Kostrov, has parents who want him to quit hockey to focus on his studies. Kislyak still believes Sergei Petrovich is a drug addict despite the fact that the coach again beats his player in a one-on-one drill. The episode ends with the pending announcement of the roster changes.
