As was predicted in this column last week, it was Alone that led the show at the box office. The horrex affair had a target audience in mind and in that aspect, the Bhushan Patel film pretty much scored in the territories and the centers where it was expected to do well. As a result, the film collected well at single screens, especially in the interiors. Though multiplexes stayed low during the weekend, the film held on well on the power of gentry audience, as a result of which around 14 crore came in.
These are better collections than Bipasha Basu’s last couple of supernatural films – Creature and Aatma. In fact for a woman-centric film, Bipasha has managed to showcase yet again that she is creating her own charter. The film has basically a week to score well since Baby and Dolly Ki Doli arrive next (with chances of Messenger...

Welcome Back, a sequel to the comic caper Welcome, was shot in Dubai with a fresh lead pair of John Abraham and Shruti Haasan. Now, we hear that Surveen Chawla too is a part of the film.
Sources say that actress Surveen Chawla, who debuted in Bollywood with Hate Story 2, will be seen in an item number for the film. While the previous installment had Malaika Arora Khan making Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar dance to the tunes of 'Hoth Rasile', this one too will have a peppy, special track. Prior to this, Surveen Chawla was seen in a steamy promotional video with Rajneesh Duggal for the film Creature starring Bipasha Basu.
It is also being said that the makers of the film were keen on having Huma Qureshi for the Welcome Back track but she apparently asked for a whopping amount because of which, the makers decided to cast Surveen Chawla instead.

T-Series has given their fourth hit in a row- Creature 3D. Directed by Vikram Bhatt, India’s first creature feature, has earned 11.34 Cr on the box-office in the opening weekend.
Creature 3D is India’s first sci-fi film produced by Bhushan Kumar. The film satellite rights were sold for 12 crore and earned a weekend collection of 11.34 crore. The movie has already recovered its cost of 18 crore. The movie’s music and overseas collection gave them a collection of 6 crore.
Mythological Creature that Vikram Bhatt has conjured that we have something to boast of, and is really appreciated by Indian audiences, specially the kids. The whole VFX of creature is done purely by Indian VFX artist.
Unlike most others who have attempted to have CGI characters in their films; Creature makers have not restricted the minutes of screen time that features this imaginary being. The 3D effects were the icing on...

It was always a given that Finding Fanny would find its audience at the multiplexes while Creature would do better at the smaller centers. Still, one didn’t expect a huge gap between the two films over the weekend at least. However, at the box office it turned out to beFinding Fanny all the way as it went on to do double the business of Creature. Though the two films were not really competing with each other to begin with, eventually the collections spoke the loudest and in that perspective, it is ‘Finding Fanny’ which is set for a much more stable week ahead. As was expected, Finding Fanny saw good reviews coming from all quarters and considering the fact that it was parallel cinema despite stars like Deepika Padukone and Arjun Kapoor, that was needed as well to boost the film’s fortunes. That happened too with decent collections on the opening day.

Two films as different as chalk and cheese release this Friday. While Finding Fanny is an out and out multiplex film, Creature 3D would register a presence amongst the masses. Both films have women driving the show as Deepika Padukone and Bipasha Basu are leading the show here. In fact their last association with the respective directors had paid off as well, what with Deepika and Homi Adajania delivering Cocktail and Bipasha along with Vikram Bhatt releasing Raaz 3 earlier. The promotion has been good too with the makers ensuring that their films get some good buzz in place well before the release. All of this means that both films should get a decent start at the box office. Though one isn’t expecting a blockbuster start here, the face value attached to Finding Fanny should attract youth at premium multiplexes across the country, especially at major cities. On the other...

After 100 years of Cinema, Bollywood is set to take the leap that will finally bring the audience on the same page as 21st century filmmakers the world over! This is Vikram Bhatt’s excitement as its few decades to finally have a completely CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) character we can call our own.
It has been years since we have been applauding Hollywood for making Gollum from scratch in The Lord of the Rings or were thrilled when Jurassic Park showed us dinosaurs but it is only now with the mythological Creature that Vikram Bhatt has conjured that we have something to boast of!

Vishal Bhardwaj's next release Haider, which is an adaptation of Shakespear's Hamlet featuring Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor has certainly perked the audiences' attention with its trailer that was released a while back. Now we hear that the film has been cleared by the Censor Board of Film Certification (Cbfc) with a U/A certificate. In fact seven cuts had been recommended when the film was submitted to the Cbfc earlier, which included a scene of Shahid's character walking amongst dead bodies, visuals of security personnel inserting a wire into naked man and muting of the word "fu***d". However, but when resubmitted the film interestingly had 41 cuts in total. Confirming the same, Vishal Bhardwaj commented that while the Cfbc had asked for seven cuts, the rest of the 35 cuts were done to make the film more crisp. He further stated that the said extra cuts were not...

Darshan Kumaar who is outstanding as Mary Kom's husband in the bio-pic releasing this week, was not able to attend the film's premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on Thursday night. Darshan, a talented new actor from Delhi who bagged the prized role after several screen-tests to ensure he would look convincing in the part, says he's clueless as to why he wasn't allowed to join Priyanka at the Festival. "There is nothing I'd have liked better than to be standing there supporting this wonderful film. Priyanka is no doubt the star of the show. He added, "I can proudly say that with Creature we have been, if not better, at least on par with any Hollywood studio. We have one hour of creature sequences for a two-hour film. The idea is to give the audience a lot more. The creature films in the West are made on the basis of scientific reasons like genetic mutation or change of chemical. But our creature is based on mythology... It is a character taken from our old stories.

If Pakistan's import Imran Abbas who makes his Bollywood debut in Vikram Bhatt's Creature is not seen anywhere promoting his maiden Bollywood venture, then we have only the rapidly-declining political conditions between India and Pakistan to blame for it. One understands from sources close to the film that Imran has not been granted a visa to visit India for this last lap of promotions. Says the source from the Creature unit, "It is an awkward situation for Imran. Creature is his first film in Bollywood and therefore very important. At the same time he is not really the hero of Creature, Bipasha Basu is. So no one is really missing him at the current events." What is worrisome for the future Bollywood projects where Pakistani actors may feature is the escalating tensions between the two countries. Actors like Ali Zafar, Humaima Malick (who makes debut in Kunal Deshmukh's...

Bipasha Basu, who was seen in Raaz and Aatma, has experienced various paranormal experiences earlier. But after acting in Creature 3D she will certainly think twice before doing another movie in the same genre.
Bipasha had studied a lot about Brahmarakshas before doing Creature 3D. She started taking help of the pandit after she began to experience nightmares related to Brahmarakshas.
A source close to the actress says, “Bipasha is getting ready to travel south to do a special puja (ritual prayers) to ward off the Brahmarakshas that is haunting her ever since acting in Creature 3D, in which the creature is a Brahmarakshas.”
The actress is expected to visit Thirunakkara Mahadeva temple in Kottayam, Kerala, following the advice of a Hindu scholar, towards the end of August.

Bipasha Basu had decided to wear least make-up as her character required, while shooting for Creature 3D, but the actress had to change her plan by opting for more use of cosmetics when the film was close to its completion.
“She hadn’t used a lot of cosmetics throughout the schedule of the film. But, while she was doing a chase sequence in the jungles of Ooty at night, she missed a step and had a bad fall. She got bruises on her face,” says a source close to Bipasha.
As the bruises were noticeable, and film was near to completion, Bipasha had to use layers of make-up. The source further adds, “There were just four days left for the shooting schedule to conclude. So, Bipasha had to wear a lot of make-up to hide the bruises.”
When asked Bipasha about the incident, she says, “Shooting for stunt and action scenes is quite fun.

Earlier Vikram Bhatt wanted his upcoming to be titled as Animal, but as the title is registered with Shirish Kundar, director of Akshay Kumar starrer Joker, he refused to give his title to Vikram Bhatt.
“When I wrote the script, I thought the name fitted really well. Also, it wouldn’t have given people the impression that it is a horror film, which is of utmost importance. However, prior to titling the film Creature, Vikram Bhatt had narrowed down many titles and had finalized 'Animal'.
