Zach Bryan kicked off “The Quittin Time Tour” at United Center in Chicago on Tuesday (March 5th), delivering a 25-song set that spanned across his growing discography and also featured a surprise appearance from Kacey Musgraves.
To begin the show, Bryan played “Overtime” from his most recent studio album, Zach Bryan, and “Open the Gate” off of his 2022 breakout effort, American Heartbreak. Bryan then dipped back to his 2019 debut, DeAnn, to perform “God Speed” before going into his unreleased song “The Great American Bar Scene.”

The country star continued zig-zagging through his catalog, performing some of his biggest songs alongside other favorites like “Nine Ball” and “Oklahoma Smokeshow” and older cuts like “Condemned” and “Heading South.”
Undoubtedly the biggest moment of the evening was when Bryan brought out Musgraves to duet their No. 1 hit (and Consequence Song of the Week), “I Remember Everything,” for the first time ever.

The dawn of the millennium saw a preference for more grounded horror stories, with shifting cultural sensibilities leading audiences to gravitate towards more down-to-earth scares rather than the masked bogeymen and supernatural threats that had previously dominated the horror genre. This change may have begun in the 90s with movies like The Silence of the Lambs and Seven, but it was only in the 2000s that the Saw franchise proved that audiences were truly hungry for hyper-violent yarns about urban carnage.
However, it would be a while before this change began to affect videogames. While the early 2000s boasted some of the most memorable survival horror experiences of all time (from the iconic Silent Hill 2 to Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem), the latter half of the decade brought with it a decline in interactive scares. We saw a few interesting experiments in Dead Space, Alan Wake and even Zombie Studios’ Saw adaptation,...

It’s not hard to understand how “franchises” became a bad word. At a time when ideas are born to become IPs, it’s easy to look down on the very idea of a franchise. However, not all franchises are treated equally. In fact, there have been quite a few video game franchises that never really got the chance they deserved.
It’s odd to think of a video game franchise eventually being lost to time. After all, the very idea of a game becoming a franchise means that it obviously was a big enough deal at one point to be worthy of follow-ups. Yet, history has shown that it’s surprisingly easy for a series to just vanish. Some fell off the radar due to bad sales or a few bad entries, but others vanished from our collective conscious for no good reason at all.

As one of 2019’s most-loved games, a massive fandom consisting of old and new fans has risen around Resident Evil 2.
The reimagined survival horror, which went on to outsell its original counterpart and score multiple Game of the Year awards and nominations, is now considered one of the best entries in the series to date, and for good reason. From masterful level and enemy design to superb pacing and incredible attention to detail, Leon and Claire’s reimagined escape from Raccoon City has seen Capcom raise the bar, yet again, on what should be expected from a genuine remake. A borderline perfect survival horror experience it may be, then, but development certainly wasn’t without its ups and downs.
In a roundtable discussion filmed shortly after the game’s release, a number of Capcom employees who worked on the ambitious project shared several anecdotes about content that never made it into the final version.

If you’re like me, then you believe Christopher Nolan’s trilogy of Batman movies remain the gold standard for what comic book films can achieve. Sure, The Dark Knight Rises may have had its glaring flaws, but it still made for one hell of a flick.
Amazingly, no video game adaptations followed 2005’s Batman Begins, which I actually found to be a pretty enjoyable experience. For those who didn’t have the pleasure of playing it, the game was essentially Splinter Cell for Dummies but it did a fine job of immersing you in that world.
By now, I’m sure you know of how a game based on The Dark Knight fell through, though The Dark Knight Rises had been planned for consoles. According to ComicBook.com, Monolith would’ve handled developmental duties. Unfortunately, however, Nolan wouldn’t green light it, so the kibosh was put on the game during the pre-production stage.

Aside from Ash’s chainsaw hand, the first thing that springs to mind whenever I think of the Evil Dead franchise is that of the remote cabin in the woods, which served as the setting for the original two films and the eventual remake. But of those three flicks, it could be argued that Evil Dead II resonated with fans most, for it firmly established the horror-comedy tone the series has become known for.
And while the Evil Dead brand has expanded out into the video game medium in the past, it stands to reason that the more diehard among you won’t pass up any chance to revisit the iconic location – especially in the form of an interactive experience. That said, you’re in luck because some magic making via the Far Cry Map Editor has made that possible. And, to be more specific, this is by way of...

The rest was on the Canon 1Dc at 4K, 320Asa with older Nikkor Lenses that had the NovaFlex adaptor. Why was this the right camera kit for the job?...

Eli Morgan Gesner’s filthy body horror flick comes to Blu-ray. Eli Morgan Gesner seems to be channeling another Eli, Roth that is, in his debut feature Condemned. The film feels kind of like an urban riff on Roth’s breakthrough feature Cabin Fever in that the villain of the piece is a kind of hyper-contagious disease…

In terms of VOD offerings, 2016 is off to a quiet but stellar start as the genre titles arriving in January include a handful of noteworthy indie horror films that should help ease the post-holiday doldrums.
Two movies I enjoyed during the 2015 Los Angeles Film Festival—The Abandoned and Intruders—are both making their VOD debuts this month and Synchronicity, the neo-noir sci-fi thriller from Magnet Releasing, also arrives on January 22nd. The animated horror comedy Hell and Back is also coming to VOD this month and the new distro shingle SyFy Films is releasing 400 Days this January as well.

Grippingly frightening dedicated fans of the horror genre through physical and emotional scares can be a challenging task, as many viewers have become desensitized, and are unable to relate to characters who are contending with distressing situations. So creating enthralling and insightful horror movies and televisions series that captivatingly chronicle the problems of contemporary society in a purposeful way is certainly an even bigger challenge. But actress Lydia Hearst, who starred in last year’s horror prequel, ‘Cabin Fever: Patient Zero,’ has naturally created characters in two such compelling, thought-provoking horror movies this fall: one in first-time feature film writer and director Eli Morgan Gesner’s ‘Condemned,’ which opened this weekend in [ Read More ]

Condemned is so campily grotesque, that I’m surprised it doesn’t come donning Troma’s seal of approval. The effects suffer from a lack of budget, and the premise is absolutely asinine, but where Troma enjoys making art out of minimal production value, Eli Morgan Gesner can’t quite find the same wacky dynamic.
We’re instead assaulted by a rather lame-duck infection thriller that makes little sense, cares not about coherency, and disrespects the NYPD with cheap, lazy jabs. It’s everyone’s nightmare of leaving home for New York City’s endless opportunities, only instead of renting a scummy, dilapidated apartment, you move into an abandoned building instead. Then it goes all [Rec] and turns into a deadly lockdown, as victims are left to die after copious amounts of vomiting, a few puss-filled boil pops, and plenty of defeated head-shaking.

Hey there creeps! Remember when I gave ya the skinny on the new splatter gem Condemned — a flick containing more bodily fluids than a couch in the San Fernando Valley? Well, guess what? Famous Monsters. Condemned is vile, disgusting, perverse, and absolutely 100% awesome! How did you come up with such a heady ghoul-ash?
Eli Morgan Gesner. The main idea was to make a New York City horror film. In my opinion, this is one of the most challenging ideas possible. Most horror films have their foundation in isolation — a cabin in the woods, lost on the Texas plains, Antarctic research base, etc. Essentially, there’s no one to come and help once the s–t hits the fan. Even though Halloween will soon be behind us, that doesn’t mean November is without a few terror-filled tricks up its sleeve, particularly when it comes to genre films arriving on VOD throughout the month. Things kick off in grand style with the release of the creature feature Lavalantula courtesy of Alchemy, as well as the latest anthology, Mexico Barbaro, featuring eight Mexican directors coming together to give us their unique takes on various folklore and traditions.
Other films hitting VOD in November include The Hallow, Wrecker, Condemned, Deep Dark, Uncanny, Crumbs, Applesauce and the social media inspired thriller, #Horror.

After a dormant volcano erupts miles outside of Los Angeles, something within the molten hot lava is awakened. Birthed from the bowels of the Earth itself, arachnid-like creatures with an obsidian-black exoskeleton swarm out. One man, Colton West, a washed-up, former A-list action star, suddenly...

Exclusive: Dallas Sonnier and Jack Heller’s Caliber Media has quietly phased out the majority of its management business and closed its Wilshire Boulevard office as the company and its principals shift focus almost completely toward production. The transition began late this summer, when Caliber’s clients and small staff got word of the impending changeover, and Sonnier and Heller started making calls to help their managers find new homes. Word started circulating in recent weeks as Caliber reps started landing elsewhere around town.
Now headquartered in its New York City office and postproduction hub, the company established in 2008 will focus primarily on producing and financing features like the upcoming horror-Western Bone Tomahawk, starring Kurt Russell, Patrick Wilson, Matthew Fox and Richard Jenkins. Sonnier and Heller are producers on the project, which recently wrapped production in California.
Sonnier will continue to manage a few clients, including Bone Tomahawk writer-director S. Craig Zahler.
