- Louis is prepared to use the smoking gun that proves once and for all that Mike did not attend Harvard, and Jessica clashes with her ex-husband's widow and lawyer when he dies and she is named executor of his will.
- Louis confronts Mike with the knowledge that he didn't go to Harvard. Mike turns to Harvey, who tells Mike to lay low. Harvey goes to Jessica but she has other things on her mind. Her ex-husband died and she's the trustee of his estate. She learns that his wife wants to sell the company. Jessica lets her feelings cloud her judgment, so Harvey asks her to step back and let him handle it. Mike tries to con Louis with an explanation, but in the end Louis tells Mike that he will have to come clean with the professor whom he supposedly wronged. Mike knows that meeting the man will blow his whole deal, so Harvey steps in to deal with it. Jessica decides to support her ex's wife, but she adds something to the proposal that quashes the deal, which in turn makes her ex's wife's attorney file a suit stating that her ex was not of sound mind when he made Jessica trustee, aiming to get her removed. Jessica knows he was not well at the time and will not lie that he was.—rcs0411@yahoo.com
- As their happy move-in together approaches, Mike invites Rachel to co-shop for a new bed. She finds that incredibly sweet but spots Louis and fearfully thinks he may have spotted them.
Harvey leaves a bottle of expensive scotch on Scottie's desk. Donna tells him it's a terrible present. She's trying to help him keep the relationship as long as possible, believing he'll eventually screw it up somehow.
Louis approaches Mike in the bathroom and tells him he's invited Harvard professor Henry Gerrard, who supposedly gave Mike an A+, to give a lecture at the firm on Friday. Stopping Mike dead in his tracks by saying it's pretty hard to forget a grade that never happened, Louis says he doesn't think Mike went to Harvard, and if Gerard doesn't recognize him, he's going to bring Mike down, no matter what it does to the firm's reputation.
Mike brings this dilemma before Harvey (and Donna). Since Gerard never backs out of commitments, Harvey thinks they need to take the situation to Jessica.
Jessica, however, tells Harvey that her ex-husband Quentin has died. She and Harvey were named co-executors of his will, and his widow, Lisa Parker, is coming in to talk about his estate.
Mike tells Rachel about Louis. She mentions that Louis won't stop until he has a signed full confession proving he's right. Mike agrees and has a plan.
Lisa wants to sells Quentin's company to a larger pharmaceutical corporation. Jessica doesn't like it. Lisa wants to get his drug to a larger audience, while Jessica thinks it's too soon to dissolve the company he founded. It gets personal between the women, and Harvey call for time to evaluate the sale.
Afterwards Harvey tells Jessica that, since the situation isn't personal for him, she should let him evaluate the offer.
Mike visits Louis at his home, saying he did go to Harvard, but Gerard's third-year class was the first time he wasn't able to breeze though without attending lectures. He failed the final and, when he want to beg Gerard for a second chance, found the professor's computer logged in, whereby he changed his grade. It's a convincing lie, but Louis is still furious and slams the door in his face.
Rachel visits Louis in his office. She tells him she loves Mike and was able to get past what he did. She appeals to the connection Louis and Mike have with regard to the love of law. It isn't something personal against Louis, but if Louis burns Mike, he'll never be able to practice.
Harvey meets with Lisa alone at her invite. Lisa is unhappy that Jessica informed the potential buyer of Quentin's company to say it must deal with both Lisa AND the firm.
Harvey goes to Jessica, upset she didn't tell him about her strategy with regard to Lisa and the sale. He tells her that, if she's not able to consider the deal rationally, she should step aside, reminding her that Lisa is grieving, too.
Louis and Mike talk alone in the office. Louis, moved by Rachel's words, tells Mike he needs to come clean to Gerard. It's his only out. (Now Mike is sunk.)
Jessica meets with Lisa and apologizes for the way she's behaved. Lisa says she never cared about the money. All she wants is to find a cure for Quentin's disease. Jessica thinks that since the bigger company has it's own drug, they might buy Lisa out and bury Quentin's to make money.
Harvey tells Mike he's going to Boston and to sit tight AGAIN. Jessica walks in. Harvey tells her he's going to see his brother. Jessica tells Harvey she and Lisa are now on the same page and asks Mike to draft a contract guaranteeing Quentin's drug will be developed. Mike admits Harvey's going to Boston on Mike's behalf but declines to elaborate.
Donna tells Rachel things will be okay. She assures her that Harvey will take care of it. She's convinced that, even though Gerard is considered the cleanest ethics professor in America, Harvey will find the dirt.
Harvey meets with Professor Gerrard in his office. They don't like one another. After bickering for a few minutes, Harvey threatens him, telling him not to come to New York and to avoid Louis' calls. It doesn't work.
Harvey returns to New York and tells Mike he doesn't think there's anything they can do. He doesn't know what to do and Donna has to pull Mike out to leave HHarvey alone.
Jessica meets with Tim, the general counsel for Quentin's company. With the offer pulled, he subpoenas Jessica, calling into question Quentin's competency when he made Jessica executor.
Jessica tells Lisa that, when Quentin made her executor, he was medicated, in a lot of pain, and hardly able to speak. Lisa wants her to lie under oath so that her position, as executor, holds, but Jessica says she won't do it.
Mike tells Harvey he didn't fail, not just to make Harvey feel better. They were always playing on borrowed time. Mike's going to resign and beg Louis to let everything go in order to protect Harvey. He names Harvey as his friend and says he won't betray a friend.
Harvey meets with Louis. He wants Louis to forgive Mike and points out that Mike embodies the spirit of the law. Louis doesn't seem sure what to do.
Before Jessica's testimony, she makes a statement that she knew for certain that Quentin knew what he was doing. Tim then brings up the letter of the law. She responds that she knows what Quentin would have wanted to do. (Her words reverberate to Mike's situation, as Mike walks resolutely toward the end of his career.)
Mike approaches Louis and Gerard, prepared to come clean. Louis tells him to apologize for not getting his work done and to get lost, effectively getting Mike off the hook.
Jessica's testimony appears to work. Afterwards she and Lisa discuss Quentin and embrace.
Mike tells Rachel that Louis "let it go." They embrace.
Donna gives Harvey a better gift for Scottie - personalized Tiffany drinking glasses - to go along with the bottle of rare scotch.
To celebrate Mike's outcome, he and Rachhel leave the office before 5:00.
Harvey stays late, sharing music and drinks with Jessica. He offers to tell her the whole truth about Mike (euphemistically his "Marcus problem"), but she says "not tonight."
