Aaron Dismuke, who dubbed Alphonse in FMA, voiced over a life-size replica of Alphonse loaned to the crew because he was a minor and unable to physically appear in the film.
Although it was only shown at anime conventions, the film was never widely available. It was released onto Vic's concert DVDs due to legal issues for screening the film, but got a very limited release. In July of 2019, a 90-second clip from the film was uploaded to YouTube, but it has since been deleted along with the person's account. Axiefae, a Lost Media Wiki user, eventually uploaded the entire film to Mega.nz and The Internet Archive in October 2020, making it commercially available for the first time.
Mignogna self-financed the short film.
The film was inspired by an occurrence at a local convention in which a fan approached Vic and requested if they could do a photoshoot with him while cosplaying in the Alchemist's red coat. It stayed with him, prompting him to create the titular short film. He mentioned it to his other voice actors, and they all expressed an interest in appearing in the film in cosplay as well.
Filmed in one day in the town of Houston, Texas.
