Terrible sound makes much of the dialog unintelligible
I liked the first half of this movie. It had a promising mystery and a family dynamic with sane brother and alcoholic little sister off to the woods of Maine to check up on the crazy ex-soldier brother who is again seeing things. Unfortunately the second half doesn't do much with the promising setup (there's a rather boring monster but, despite the title, no "pod"). The audio is a big problem. The first half is dialog intensive, but much of it is inaudible without constantly adjusting the volume from normal TV setting to maximum and then quickly back to avoid eardrum damage. There is excessive use of flickering lights and red lights to add atmosphere.
