Everything I have heard has been all positive. With it being only the third Marvel movie since Endgame (the first with a new character) the vultures we undoubtedly circling. Movie goers are always waiting for the MCU movie that breaks the camals back, particuarly when they cross over into new genres. A lot of the positive talk focuses on how fresh it feels. For many in our industry, 2020 was an incredible challenge. From the cancellation of film shoots and festivals, to the shutdown of cinemas and theatres. From the shake-up of the Producer Offset, to the initial suspension and then watering down of Australian content sub-quotas. For those of us releasing an independent feature in this changing and unpredictable landscape, we’ve had to become even more flexible and innovative to ensure our films not only reach audiences, but that we remain viable in a market where the obstacles continue to multiply.
This time last year we were in the midst of a successful festival run for my second feature: Australia’s first women’s horror anthology Dark Whispers – Volume 1 featuring 11 women directors from across the country. The project combined my love for dark genre with my passion for advocacy for gender equality in the screen industry by spotlighting female voices in horror.

This story about Koné Bakary and “Night of the Kings” first appeared in the International Films Issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
Philippe Lacôte’s prison drama “Night of the Kings,” the Ivory Coast’s entry in this year’s Oscar race for Best International Feature Film, stars a lot of actors who are known in international cinema circles. Among them are Steve Tientcheu from the Oscar-nominated French film “Les Misérables” as the inmate boss of a brutal concrete prison, and “Holy Motors” star Denis Lavant in a feral and deranged performance as the sole white convict.

June has certainly been a bit of a slow month for new Netflix content. At least, when compared to what April and May brought us. And though the streaming giant continues to pump out fresh movies and TV shows on an almost daily basis, there hasn’t been much in the way of noteworthy or buzzy titles lately.
Unfortunately, that trend continues today, as we’ve only got 2 new TV series to sink our teeth into. Though one of them does, admittedly, deserve some attention, as it’s the second season of FX’s excellent Pose. The other, meanwhile, is a new show called Whispers, and you can check out a quick description of each one down below.

Logan Williams, a young actor who appeared on CW’s “The Flash,” died on April 2 at 16 years old, and his mother has revealed that his death was caused by a fentanyl overdose.
In an interview with the New York Post, Marlyse Williams announced that preliminary toxicology results showed that Logan overdosed on the opioid. She also said that he struggled with his addiction for three years.
Marlyse Williams explained that Logan started acting when he was 9 years old, but eventually took a break when he was 13 due to the stressful auditioning process. It was around that time she found out he was using marijuana. From there, he escalated to doing other drugs, but she doesn’t know when he started using fentanyl.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake has finally arrived after what could realistically be described as decades worth of anticipation. While some fans aren’t entirely happy with the ways this remake updates the original, the general consensus is that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is an ambitious, enjoyable, and worthwhile experience that manages to exceed expectations in surprising ways.
However, there is nothing more surprising about Final Fantasy 7 Remake than the game’s ending. The Final Fantasy 7 Remake ending is already generating heated discussions and debates amongst excited fans who are not only eager to discuss what they just saw but what it all means for the remake (and the franchise) moving forward.

Friday brought some tragic news for fans of The Flash as we discovered that 16-year-old actor Logan Williams had passed away from unknown causes. Williams portrayed Barry Allen as a child on the hit CW series during the earlier portion of its run, wracking up a total of eight appearances on the show.
Ever since the news broke, DC fans have been paying their respects to Williams and his family and reflecting on his tragic loss on social media. As have those who worked with him on The Flash. Grant Gustin, for instance, has shared his heartbroken response to Williams’ passing on Instagram. Over the past couple of seasons of the show, Shipp has played Jay Garrick and Earth-90’s Barry Allen, but he worked with Williams via his original role as Henry Allen.

Inspired by his grandfather Pap Pruitt, who successfully ran all sorts of businesses from a car wash to a roadside peanut stand, Mikey is still looking for his million-dollar idea. Unfortunately, most of his ideas so far have failed.
Deadline understands that Heyday Television, which produces series including BBC One thriller The Capture, is working with its joint venture partner NBCUniversal International Studios on the project.
The book, which was published by Penguin Random House earlier this month, focuses on an enterprising boy who starts his own junior talent agency and signs a 13 year-old aspiring drag queen as his first client.
Twelve-year-old Mikey Pruit, president, founder, and CEO of Anything, Inc, has always been an entrepreneur at heart. Inspired by his grandfather Pap Pruitt, who successfully ran all sorts of businesses from a car wash to a roadside peanut stand, Mikey is still looking for his million-dollar idea. Unfortunately, most of his ideas so far have failed.

“Squeeze” is a frustrating episode. There’s a lot of good here, with an exciting, tense plot and some actual forward movement in the glacial Whisperer story, but it’s hard to give oneself over to the episode when the story hinges once again on Carol’s revenge-at-all-costs plot against Alpha. And while the consequences of Carol’s recklessness this time are finally enough to drive a wedge between her and Daryl, it’s hard to shake the feeling that the show has spent the last year severely mishandling one of its strongest characters.
But let’s first focus on what the episode does well. The cave setting is a fresh one for “The Walking Dead,” and while the various obstacles encountered — dark pits, tight spaces, and various boogeymen leaping out of the dark — aren’t anything you haven’t seen in a cave-based adventure before, they’re handled with aplomb here.

Charades, the sales firm launched three years ago by former execs at Wild Bunch, Gaumont and Studiocanal, will roll into the Berlinale’s European Film Market with a raft of pre-sales on anticipated French projects, including “The Rosemaker” with Catherine Frot and Laurent Tirard’s “The Speech.”
Charades will unveil the promos of both films, as well as “Madeleine Collins,” Antoine Barraud’s psychological drama headlined by Virginie Efira, and will be hosting the market premieres of Sebastien Demoustier’s “The Girl With a Bracelet” which is generating strong box office returns in France, where it opened last week, and Bruno Merle’s “Felicita.”
A psychological drama, starring Chiara Mastroianni and Roschdy Zem, “The Girl With a Bracelet,” has already attracted 100,000 admissions in five days. The film follows a 16-year-old who stands trial for the murder of her best friend and begins to confess to a secret life that she kept from her parents.

In 2011, producer Marc Obéron launched Le Temps Presse, an activist film festival dedicated to uniting socially minded filmmakers with an equally impassioned public in order to engage with the concerns of sustainable development and related issues facing the global community.
Now entering its ninth edition (Jan. 22-26), Le Temps Presse will introduce a new component this year. On Feb. 7, organizers will launch Cinema for Change, a daylong industry forum in Paris dedicated to the development and production of what Obéron calls “social impact entertainment.”
“In the United States, over the past few years, we’ve seen a strong trend towards civic-minded content,” says Obéron. “Questions of diversity, inclusion, climate change and other environmental concerns have not only informed documentaries, but many narrative features as well. With our first Cinema for Change forum, we want to bring together members French industry who are interested in the same questions.”
