From unique bio-organisms, hybrid monstrosities, and sentient androids, Isaac Asimov’s cosmic universe is filled with archetypal creations that have influenced the lore of a number of other franchises. One of the major factions of Asimov’s verse, the Mentalics, was introduced in the second season of Apple TV+’s Foundation, adapted from the novel series of the same name. Mentalics are psychically enhanced beings who can communicate, project, and interact through telepathy. Through Gaal Dornick’s central role in the narrative of the interplanetary saga, the Mentalics are explored further, and their role will be integral in the upcoming world-building of Foundation, including the arrival of the series’ most important figure, the Mule. Let’s take a look at the connection established with the unique community and what role mental health professionals might play in the future.

There is a certain saying in theological studies that talks about accepting the situations one cannot change, having the courage to change what can be changed, and having the wisdom to know the difference between both situations. The precepts of Foundation are by no means grounded in theology, yet Isaac Asimov’s masterwork heavily hinges on these principles, as shown throughout the first season of Apple TV+’s adaptation of the novel series and also in the recently concluded second season as well.
The first season of Foundation primarily dealt with the conflict between brilliant mathematician Hari Seldon and the genetic Cleon dynasty, the rulers of the Galactic Empire, stemming from the fact that Hari’s calculations based on psychohistory predicted the downfall of the Empire. As a deterrent, after being banished to planet Terminus, Hari created the Foundation, which is an institute to preserve the essentials of human civilization...

The second season of Apple TV+’s cosmic epic, Foundation, introduced new characters, new stakes, and new revelations, and as it concluded with quite an eventful finale, Hari Seldon’s masterplan was unfurled in a cataclysmic reckoning. Given the basis of psychohistory and Hari’s initial perception of human existence, which dictates that the impact of individuals doesn’t matter much in the grand scheme of things, it is little wonder that not all the characters viewers grew fond of will make it to the next season. In fact, these last couple of episodes of the second season take out more characters from the planetary saga than the first season managed to do. We would like to take a look back at the ending of the second season to assess the tally of the characters who might return for a third season and those who won’t.

The Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 11 was filled with mystery, scheming, and betrayal as the inner workings of the Commonwealth were exposed.
Our merry band of survivors should know better than to trust new people.
If you watch The Walking Dead online, you know they've been betrayed countless times under the guise of joining thriving communities.
There was Woodbury. Then there was Terminus. And now, we've got the Commonwealth, who might just be the most cunning band of villains to date.
The good thing about this last pivotal location from the comic books is that the show is doing a stand-up job at translating the story to screen.
Yes, there are significant changes, but it's all part of the fun of wondering what's going to happen next.

When considering the adaptation of a classic science fiction universe as massive as Isaac Asimov’s Foundation series, the sheer scale of such an enterprise seems quite daunting. How can Apple TV+ take a story that spans centuries in a galactic empire with thousands of inhabited planets and make it accessible both to hardcore fans and to audiences unaccustomed to “space opera” sci-fi? When viewers watch the first three episodes of Foundation, set to release on September 24, they’ll see Asimov’s world come to life in an expansive yet character-driven vision that will please both groups.
The key lies in building upon the skeleton of the original Foundation trilogy, which in turn was formed from a series of short stories written in the 1940s. By its very nature, the Foundation narrative was composed primarily of exposition,...

It’s easy (and mostly correct) to assume that the majority of superhero television is based on comics. But Hollywood loves existing IP, which means there are plenty of other series on TV right now based on comic books or graphic novels that have nothing to do with super powers or saving the day.
Comics are much more than caped crusaders — graphic novels run the same genre gamut as literary novels, from journalism to sci-fi and plenty in between. Below, we’ve rounded up a bunch of TV series that you might not have realized were based on comic books. Read on to find out where you can watch each show and, more importantly, where to find the graphic novels that inspired them.

Every season of The Walking Dead walks a tightrope line between staying true to the source material – Robert Kirkman’s bestselling Image Comics series – and inventing fresh developments in order to keep things interesting for even the most well-versed comic book readers. When the show returns for the second half of season 9 next month, it’ll be time to tackle the popular Whisperers arc from the page, and showrunner Angela Kang has assured us that it won’t follow all the same beats as the source material that inspired it.
While speaking with Deadline, Kang explained that the Twd writers always attempt to hit the major moments from the comic books that either they expect the fans will want to see or that they want to keep in there, but how they get to these moments is what changes with the medium.

After directing one Season 6 episode of The Walking Dead—and editing 12 episodes of the series—Avi Youabian was as hungry as a walker on a rampage to return to the director’s chair. Teaming with writer Nick Bernardone on AMC short-form seriesThe Walking Dead: Red Machete, Youabian found his opportunity. Consulting with executive producer Scott M. Gimple, the pair were tasked with creating a project that could add to the fabric of The Walking Dead universe, while functioning effectively as a standalone piece.
With this briefing from the Ep, Youabian and Bernardone laid down their own set of parameters, imposing further challenges upon themselves. With Red Machete, the pair crafted a narrative centering entirely on an inanimate protagonist: The blade of the series’ title, which would move from owner to owner, episode by episode, throughout The Walking Dead‘s post-apocalyptic landscape.

In many ways Terminus is just the kind of low-key, apocalyptic, sci-fi thriller which we appreciate so much around here. With a stripped-down, minimal aesthetic, focus on developing characters and relationships, and an ever present sense of tension, doom and dread, there's a lot for Pa enthusiasts to enjoy here. The film is not without problems (which we'll get into shortly), but it essentially stands as an enjoyably creative and well executed thriller, with plenty of original ideas and several eye-catching performances.

Directed and co-written by Marc Furmie, Terminus tells what happens when an alien pod or meteorite fragment falls to Earth. The story focuses on garage owner and mechanic David Chamberlain (Jai Koutrae) and his daughter Annabelle (Kendra Appleton) as they struggle with more bills, less money, and life in a warring society. Army vet and amputee Zach (Todd Lasance) enters their lives, looking for a job with David while rebuilding his life after the war. There are small-town spats, glimpses of a unnamed war going on in the Middle East, and vets being spat on and ridiculed by American "patriot" types, such as what happened when troops returned home from the Vietnam War. However, the larger story is of the alien rock that plummets to Earth, as...

Among the sequels and reboots, there are also some exciting-looking original sci-fi films to look forward to in 2016. And here they are...
Did you see Coherence? Or maybe Predestination? They’re but two examples of relatively low-budget, original genre films that were both beautifully made and endlessly watchable. What they lacked in expensive special effects they more than made up for in mesmerising concepts and superb performances, whether it was from a cast of relative unknowns in Coherence or the perfect pairing of Ethan Hawke and Sarah Snook in Predestination.
Only time will tell whether 2016 will play host to films as good as those, but we have to say, there are some potentially great sci-fi films on the horizon this year. Some have generous budgets and top-line casts, others are independently produced. For different reasons, all look well worth keeping an eye on...

Tagline: "All things must end." The sci-fi thriller Terminus has a new, longer trailer. The film's first teaser trailer was released in late 2014. Since then, the film has secured theatrical distribution in Australia and North America. Both territories will see the film, on the big screen, in January of next year. The film, from director Marc Furmie, involves a meteorite and one man's interaction with a new life form. The film stars Jai Koutrae, Kendra Appleton and Todd Lasance. The film's latest trailer is hosted here. The story for Terminus is partially being kept behind a black curtain. Though, the latest clip reveals much more than the synopsis. The trailer shows two friends in a pickup truck. In the distance, a meteorite crashes into a forest. Governmental agencies are soon on scene. Then, it is realized that one of the men has been transformed by his encounter with this space debris.
