I'm not the first little demoness to admit that I dig Danny Trejo as the exploitation hero he has styled himself to be. The man makes me smile every time he pops up like the be-scarred Bamf he is. More than half of the movies I have watched have featured his divine presence in one way or another, and whenever Danny Trejo appears on screen, I know I am gonna have a bloody good day.
Well. Most days.
The Burning Dead is pretty awful. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's the Worst Movie Ever because that would imply a false idea that I haven't seen a lot of bad movies, but man... this movie had a bombastic yet simple as bread and butter concept that can drag in the hungry B or C movie masses. Say, you know what would have made the Tommy Lee Jones disaster movie Volcano better? Lava zombies and cult icon Danny Trejo, if Rene Perez’s undead disaster movie is anything to go by. When a simmering volcano blows its top in small-town America, the locals have more to worry about than simple immolation – the emergence of a horde of long-buried zombies from within adding considerably to their woes.
A small band of survivors hustle together to escape both the perils of the lava and the zombies, hunkering down in a woodland cabin, where the crinkly old resident within is undergoing some serious social media withdrawal symptoms.

Director Rene Perez (Playing with Dolls) is filming a second sequel to his film The Dead and the Damned (2011). The film is titled The Dead and the Damned 3. And, much like the first sequel, this second sequel takes place in a sci-fi, futuristic landscape. Here, mutants rule the world, while everyone else tries to stay alive. Perez has announced the attachment of Robert Dixon, John Scuderi (The Burning Dead). Alanna Forte (Little Red Riding Hood) and Colin M. Bryant, to the cast. Shooting is taking place right now and several photos have been released from filming. The photos tell a story by themselves. This second sequel will introduce a villain, with the character Sawyer returning. This time the action takes place in the wilderness and in a remote survivor camp. Several vehicles, characters and settings can be seen in these early stills. A trailer for The Dead and the Damned 3 is coming soon.
