Castle was a huge fan favorite, but by the time the show reached season 8, it seemed no one was happy.
There were rumors of infighting behind the scenes, which led to fewer and fewer scenes filmed between the two leads.
Then Castle’s lead and supporting actresses (Stana Katic and Tamala Jones) were shockingly fired weeks before Castle Season 8 ended!
Fans were outraged, so much so that they began sending coffee sleeves to ABC with messages such as #SaveCaskett and #CancelCastle. Coffee was a symbol of love and affection between the two characters throughout the series.
The show’s fans wanted the series canceled rather than have it go on without their favorite couple.
What other show has had its diehard shippers root for its demise rather than see the series-long love story end and its main couple left to bleed out on the floor?
The fans got their wish.

Stars: Dolph Lundgren, Natalie Burn, Sean Patrick Flanery, Chuck Liddell, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, Danny Trejo, Al Sapienza, Olya Banar, Riccardo Berdini, Ryan Carnes, Neb Chupin, Joe Corzo | Written by Michael Merino | Directed by Michael Merino, Daniel Zirilli
I’ve been a big fan of actress Natalie Burn since her role in 2016’s Left to Die (aka Awaken). That film, which she also co-wrote, saw her take the lead role in a Most Dangerous Game-esque movie but be sidelined by the marketing materials who focused on the appearance of Vinnie Jones in the cast. And Acceleration does something very similar.
To the uninitiated Acceleration looks like yet another Dtv star-vehicle for Dolph Lundgren; hell, even the cast listing atop the DVD cover puts Sean Patrick Flanery, Lundgren and Chuck Liddell ahead of Burns. But this Is Burns’ film, she and her character are the driving force behind the action. It...

Childish Gambino ‘3.15.20’ reviews: Donald Glover’s ‘glorious’ new album can ‘bring us all together’
Childish Gambino, the hip-hop artist otherwise known as Donald Glover, released his new album “3.15.20” on that date for 12 hours, then took it down, then officially released it again one week later on March 22. So what do critics think of this enigmatic effort, which is his first album since 2016’s “Awaken, My Love” and the first since his 2018 standalone single “This is America” became a cultural phenomenon with its viral music video?
“This is America” isn’t included on this album, but don’t worry, you won’t catch him slippin’ up. As of this writing “3.15.20” has a sky-high MetaCritic score of 88 based on six early reviews counted thus far: five of them positive, only one of them somewhat mixed, but none outright negative as of yet. That’s the highest critical average of his career, besting the 77 for “Awaken,” which earned him a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year...

J.D. McCrary just can’t wait to be king.
At 11 years old, he’s worked on movies with Tyler Perry and Regina Hall, and appeared on the Grammys and The Ellen Show. This month, he voices Young Simba in Disney’s anticipated remake of The Lion King.

Back in 1986, a Connecticut band called Fates Warning released Awaken the Guardian, their third LP and a cornerstone of what would come to be known as progressive metal. With its labyrinthine song structures and John Arch’s wildly expressive vocals — which combined swooping, acrobatic range with bizarre melodic invention — this was music for headbangers who somehow felt that contemporary albums by the likes of Iron Maiden were a little too tame.
The album was a new peak for Fates Warning, but it was also their last release with Arch, who...

Disney's Summer release of The Lion King remake is fast approaching, and perhaps one of the most exciting parts about the film is the all-star cast. Between Donald Glover, Beyoncé, James Earl Jones, and Seth Rogen, there are a ton of talents that will be lending their voices to the beloved characters. But there's another up and coming actor and singer that you should definitely have on your radar: Jd McCrary. The 11-year-old will be portraying young Simba, and although you don't hear him yet in the movie's first official trailer, you might recognize his voice from a number of other projects.
One of McCrary's most recent appearances is in the new film Little where he stars alongside 14-year-old Black-ish actress and history-making producer Marsai Martin. In the movie, he attends the middle school Marsai's character is sent to after she magically turns into a little girl.

The UAE-us co-production offers "an immersive journey through human cultures and natural landscapes, studying man’s relationship with technology and the natural world". It felt like part of Childish Gambino died last night. As his sturdy frame lumbered through golden LSD obelisks and beads of sweat pooled on his back as “Redbone” played, he had the bearing of an exhausted man leaving behind a husk he’d never return to collect.

It’s easy to bemoan the majority of trailers for giving away too much or, upon seeing the film, ending up with something far different than what was marketed. However, a few times a year, a trailer works on its own terms; as an impressive piece of editing in its own right and/or as the ideal tease for an highly-anticipated film. We’ve selected our 20 favorites from the last year, ranging from some of 2017’s major films to the best in arthouse and foreign films to a handful of surprises.
Check them out below and let us know which trailers you were most impressed with in 2017.
20. Awaken
The most jaw-dropping trailer of the year, this Terrence Malick- and Godfrey Reggio-produced documentary takes such a stunning trip around the globe that it looks otherworldly. Hopefully getting a release this year, in the meantime, this makes for the ideal 4K demo.

Terrence Malick is one of the most influential filmmakers alive, with everyone from Christopher Nolan and David Gordon Green to John Hillcoat and Andrew Dominik citing him as an inspiration. To show the extent to which the “Badlands,” “The Thin Red Line,” and “The Tree of Life” director has left his mark on a generation of directors, Vimeo user Jacob T. Swinney made a video called “Not Directed by Terrence Malick” made up of shots from other filmmakers whose work bears a distinct resemblance to Malick’s. Watch below.

While an exclusive clip from the film was shown at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, there has yet to be a full trailer for the film. Now, Marvel announced that the first trailer will premiere on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” tomorrow night, but before that, they’ve dropped a teaser to whet the appetites of fans everywhere. In 2001, Ashutosh Gowarikar’s “Lagaan” became the third Indian film in history to receive an Oscar nomination. The story, featuring villagers in British India who challenge their rulers’ tax impositions with a game of cricket, established Gowarikar as one of India’s leading filmmakers. It also triggered his preference for period dramas of epic proportions; he followed it up with 2008’s “Jodhaa Akbar,” a less dynamic but lavish fictional rendition of the love story between the famous Mughal emperor and his Hindu wife. A few forgettable films later, Gowarikar has returned to his favorite genre with “Mohenjo Daro.”
Based on the city at the heart of the Indus Valley Civilization, the film is an ambitious attempt to paint a portrait of a relatively obscure slice of the past. But the same writer-director who set the bar for historical fiction 15 years ago doesn’t meet it even halfway now—bloated and tiresome,...

Staggeringly beautiful and immensely true, the best animated film of 2016 — one of the year’s best films of any kind, really — is a stop-motion fable about a one-eyed boy in mythical Japan that was made by a team of gifted visionaries in an Oregon warehouse. Laika, the independent studio behind morbid enchantments like “Coraline” and “ParaNorman,” has already established itself as a formidable bulwark against the ever-accelerating onslaught of computer-generated 3D cartoons, but “Kubo and the Two Strings” makes even the most painstaking of their previous movies feel like a trial run.
A Kurosawa-inspired epic about the supreme power of storytelling, Laika’s largest movie to date is also their most emotionally acute. What makes distributors think that joe public will grab any Vinnie Jones movie off the supermarket shelf sight unseen? The man isn’t exactly the bastion of quality direct to market movies these days (have you seen the godawful Kill Kane?) Thankfully I took a look at the rest of the credits for Left To Die and it was those that sold me on buying this gem of a film on iTunes, Not Mr. Jones… After all, just look at that cast: Daryl Hannah, Edward Furlong, Jason London, Robert Davi, Michael Paré, Christa Campbell, David Keith and there’s even a cameo by Benny “The Jet” Urquidez – a veritable who’s who of Dtv megastars!

Courageously and resolutely fighting for your beliefs, both physically and emotionally, can be a powerful advantage in achieving your goals, especially when you’re battling your callous competitors. But when the line between your supposed allies and your alleged opponents becomes increasingly blurred, you’re forced to reconsider what connections are actually benefiting your ultimate goals and motives. That gripping emotional exploration is powerfully examined through the questionable actions of actor Robert Davi’s seemingly admirable character in the new action thriller, ‘Awaken,’ which is now available on DVD. ‘Awaken,’ which was was co-written and directed by Mark Atkins, follows Billie Kope (Natalie Burn), a skilled martial arts expert who mysteriously wakes up [ Read More ]

At a loss for what to watch this week? From new DVDs and Blu-rays, to what's streaming on Netflix, we've got you covered.
TV Worth Watching
"7 Days in Hell" (Saturday on HBO at 10 p.m.)
Bless whoever came up with this random 45-minute mockumentary about an epic seven-day tennis match. Andy Samberg -- looking more "Joe Dirt" David Spade than Andre Agassi -- and Kit Harington (Jon Snow + comedy = win) are the players, with real tennis stars like Serena Williams and John McEnroe giving commentary.
"The Spoils Before Dying" (Wednesday on IFC at 9 p.m.)
Are you ready for this three-night television event? Not possible! But it's coming anyway. "The Spoils Before Dying" is the comedy follow-up to "The Spoils of Babylon" miniseries. This spoof once again stars Will Ferrell, Kristen Wiig, Haley Joel Osment, Val Kilmer, Michael Sheen, Maya Rudolph and more, this time following a 1950s jazz pianist...

Fearlessly and determinedly fighting for your beliefs, both physically and emotionally, can be a powerful advantage to achieving your goals, especially in a world that’s dominated by ruthless competitors. But that process is even more gratifying when a courageous woman daringly combats the influential men who stand in her way of obtaining her ambitions. Actress Natalie Burn enthrallingly captured that objective when not only starred in, but also made her feature film writing and producing debuts with, the action thriller, ‘Awaken.’ The drama, which will be released this Tuesday on DVD, is also thematically satisfying, as she performed her own stunts while portraying her protagonist’s drive to safe her sister. You know what I love about this clip from Mark Atkins' indie action flick Awaken? It's the bad guys in the background behind Darryl Hannah. They are so goddamn badass they are still wearing their shades. In the middle of a thunderstorm. You know you are badass when you do not have to worry about bumping into anything, probably because it will fall over out of fear. So good. I bet Jason Landon wishes he had a pair just to cover his bloodshot eyes. Dude looks 'rekt'. A group of young adults wake up on a deserted tropical island in this suspenseful thriller about black markets and body parts. Billie, a skilled martial arts expert, had been searching for her missing sister, Rina, when she was attacked and...

I had the distinct pleasure of corresponding with Natalie Burn. Burn’s talented beyond measure and has had a well lived life thus far. Beginning as a dancer and studying at such prestigious schools as The Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow and The Royal Ballet School in London.
She then threw her hand into the acting game, and has worked alongside Sly Stallone himself in Expendables 3, and has recently made a film that deals with the dark side of organ donation, in addition to Awaken and Killer Mermaid (review). It’s pretty impressive not only because it has some noteworthy names in it, but it was also co-written by her as well. She even does her own stunt work. If it’s not apparent by now, she believes in a pretty broad skill set.

I believe this new key art for Mark Atkins' film Awaken has set a new benchmark for skull islands everywhere. It certainly is the skulliest of all. There is no denying that this island is a skull island. You almost was to call it Skulls Island but then rowing teams will show up and realize that there had been a spelling error on their part. Let's just save them the shame and call this island 'A Really Skully Island'. "Mulder?"No, no, no, Ms. Anderson. Go back home. We don't mean you... ...Where was I?A group of young adults wake up on a deserted tropical island in this suspenseful thriller about black markets and body parts. A few story details and a low resolution concept poster are available for Mark Atkins' film, Awaken. Atkins is a cinematographer and director, who is no stranger to horror (Knight of the Dead). His latest deals with an urban legend, the harvesting of human organs. And, the early graphic shows a hunter and an isolated island. As well, fans of film will recognize several of the film's stars, including: Edward Furlong, Daryl Hannah, Vinnie Jones, Jason London and veteran actor Michael Paré. Story details are relegated to a few sentences. However, several strangers find themselves on an uninhabited island. Here, hunters track these people, hoping to score a kidney, a liver and even a heart. These organs will make a killing on the black market! This title moved into post-production earlier this year. So, a trailer is likely to come this way shortly. As well, 7Heaven Productions and Archstone Pictures are producing this title.
