New York Times bestselling author Terry McMillan has partnered with Lifetime to executive produce several new original movies under the banner, “Terry McMillan Presents.” Her new movies for the network, which will be announced at a later time, will focus on the love and lives of African American women.
Lifetime previously collaborated with McMillan on the 2014 TV movie A Day Late and a Dollar Short featuring Whoopi Goldberg, Mekhi Phifer, Anika Noni Rose, Kimberly Elise, Tichina Arnold and Ving Rhames.
“Terry is an American treasure with her ability to capture the female experience in finding love and happiness,” said Elaine Frontain Bryant, EVP and Head of Programming, A&e, Lifetime and Lmn. “We are so excited to partner with her on these new movies that I know will also resonate with our viewers.”

Lifetime is getting an early grip on 2022 holiday movies. The network announced three new movies on Monday to kick off their festive programming.
“A New Orleans Noel” comes from executive producer Whoopi Goldberg and follows Grace Hill (Keshia Knight Pulliam) who finds herself working alongside her polar opposite, Anthony to fix up the home of icon Loretta Brown, portrayed by the one and only Patti Labelle. Tim Reid also stars as a man who has returned to town and catches Loretta’s eye.
“A New Orleans Noel” is produced by Evergreen Films and directed by Angela Tucker. Executive producers include Daniel Lewis, Rick Carter, Tom Leonardis and Pulliam. This will be the second Lifetime film Goldberg has produced this year, as she previously worked on “Caught in His Web.” She previously produced and starred in the network’s 2014 movie “A Day Late and a Dollar Short” and served as an...

Remember that whole "It's Gonna be May" meme trend? How could you forget, seeing as it just happened yesterday. People all over the Internet got a giant kick out of posting different versions of a picture, playing on the lyrics from the 'N Sync song "It's Gonna Be Me." You know, this one: Well, it turns out that the Backstreet Boys are feeling a little left out. They want fans to know that they exist too, and they posted this Tweet to try and get in on all the fun. nullIt's sweet that Bsb got jealous of all the attention that 'N Sync is getting, but we're going to call this as a too-little, too-late situation. A day late and a dollar short. Day-old news. How many more ways...

This fall, Lifetime will take an uncharacteristic trip into horror lit with Big Driver, an adaptation of Stephen King’s same-named short story from his 2010 collection Full Dark, No Stars. Maria Bello stars in the grim and brutal pic, about an author who is brutally raped and assaulted by a truck driver, only to survive and return seeking vengeance.
The project is an unusual one for Lifetime, though the network has been branching out in recent years with increasingly dramatic original series like Witches of East End and The Lottery. Big Driver is also, like many of Lifetime’s programs, a tale of female empowerment led by a particularly steely protagonist.
Now, the suitably dark first trailer for the movie, which also stars Olympia Dukakis, Joan Gett, Ann Dowd and Will Harris, has arrived online. Check it out below, along with the official synopsis for the adaptation.

The first major awards ceremony honoring this past year’s accomplishments on the small screen took place last night as Cedric the Entertainer hosted the 2014 Critics’ Choice Television Awards from the Beverly Hilton. I’ve always preferred the Critics’ Choice Awards to the Emmys, just because my views tend to line up more with the members of the Broadcast Television Journalists Association. This year was no different, as a number of highly deserving actors, actresses and shows were honored.

Meanwhile, the big contenders for individual shows were the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, the CBS drama The Good Wife, FX's crime dramedy Fargo, Showtime's drama series Masters Of Sex and HBO's The Normal Heart, all getting five noms each.
Also, Netflix struck a blow against the traditional television hierarchy with their original series Orange Is The New Black competing in several key categories.
