Not bad, but something's missing

Warning: Spoilers
"The Scarecrow" is a 3.5-minute short film from 2 years ago that is one of these movies which has no real flaws, but also does not reach greatness. The animation is okay, the story is fine too, but still I felt that this was underwhelming. The best aspect about it is maybe the atmospheric setting with the melancholic music and also the Scarecrow's depressing life in general. Not even the crows are afraid anymore until the very end, when it seems the Scarecrow has managed to make a difference and chases a crow away. It's solid for its runtime, but also should not have been much longer because otherwise it may have started to drag. An okay watch, but all in all I don't really think I can recommend it. Nothing memorable in here that stays in the mind. Oldenburg certainly did better on the Oscar winning "Morris Lessmore".
