Holland Roden and Chris McNally have great chemistry and fun banter in this new Hallmark mystery series Tipline Mysteries.
cgvsluis13 June 2024
I hope they make more of these because I thoroughly enjoyed watching both Holland Roden and Chris McNally. They were fun and funny, had great chemistry and enjoyable teasing banter. Holland Roden plays an efficient and fast-talking hotel concierge by day and a newspaper tipline operator by night named Maddie. Maddie is enthralled by the local crime and she listens to an app that has an algorithm that compiles all of the local crimes for her. Chris McNally is the newly promoted to detective Detroit police officer Beeks. These two meet when Maddie brings in the cryptic phone call about a planned jewelry heist. With little to no details, it is hard for Beeks to take Maddie seriously. When a jewelry store is actually robbed and a murder occurs, Maddie sets about doing her own investigation...which is somewhat thwarted by Beeks until his boss has then working together thanks to some good instincts on Maddie's part.

This sets up a great partnership and I loved the banter..."detective pawesome" and all. The mystery was decent and I enjoyed the supporting actors...particularly the Captain Nyland (Jill Teed) and the tech savvy Ethan (Riley Davis).

I enjoy Hallmark mysteries with Hannah Swensen's Murder She Baked, Aurora Teagarden Mysteries (the original), and Mystery 101 being my favorites. This is the first one that has given me promise in a long while. This is a strong recommendation from me to Hallmark mystery fans and I am really eager to see more.

Stop The Focal Fry!
I loved the movie, but couldn't stand to hear the female lead talk. I couldn't understand anything she was saying because of her ridiculous vocal fry. Why do actresses talk like they are straining their voices, resulting in their dialogue sounding like a squeaky pig stuck in a barb wire fence. So many times I just wanted to reach through the TV and hand her a sore throat drop. Why wouldn't the director or sound person say something during filming?! This type of speaking is so freaking annoying, and makes you not want to watch anything with it in it. All actors, please stop the vocal fry! It is not attractive.

Good story
cthyqc9 June 2024
I agree with the person that said the female leads voice was very hard to u understand unless you turned the volume way up. It made it difficult to follow the story line. Her acting was good but the voice issue was distracting. It seemed she was pitching her voice lower for some reason .

Cheri's Mc Naly is one f my favorite's on Hallmark. I really enjoyed him last year on 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths. , 1 ghost. Fun mystery. This story is almost as much fun.

The acting is good from the entire cast. The story moves along well . Enjoyed the interplay between the characters and the back story about helping others.

good for Hallmark Mystery
SnoopyStyle8 June 2024
Maddie Moore (Holland Roden) is a hotel concierge who moonlights at the phone tipline for the Detroit Free Press newspaper. She is a crime buff who often passes the tips onto unhelpful retiring robbery/homicide Detective Grazier but he always ignores them. Beeks (Chris McNally) received the highest grade and replaces Grazier. Maddie receives a tip on an impending jewelry store robbery.

Roden is an energetic spark plug. She has good conflict with McNally. The main drawback is that this is a Hallmark Mystery and the production is no more than TV movie level. I like the fast-talking Roden and McNally is a good grump. I would suggest turning on the closed captioning. It makes it easier to follow the mystery.

Okay, given that it's a Hallmark Mystery
blanche-218 June 2024
This is typical Hallmark - the cute amateur and the cop who doesn't want her help but gets it anyway.

This one is cute , with likable characters. Maddie (Holland Roden) is a hotel concierge by day and works the tipline at the Detroit Free Press as a second job.

When she receives a tip about a jewelry heist about to happen, there is not enough info for detective Beeks (Stephen McNally) to act on it. When the heist happens, his boss isn't thrilled.

Holland Roden is a young Cameron Bure type. She's vivacious, bold, and irreverent. She and McNally play off one another well.

I'm ignoring "reconcilable differences" as I think it was a transcription mistake.

Hope to see more.

The best cast!
juliavaklinova17 May 2024
First of all - the cast! I knew that I was going to love the movie, before I even watched it!

Holland Roden is so charming and pretty! Her character was really likeable and awkward at times. Very cute! Chris McNally is incredibly handsome! The chemistry was on point, which is sometimes hard, even for movies with great leading actors.

The plot was amazing, really different from the usual first the murder and then the possible suspects and who did it... Really clever and there was a lot of humor as well.

I am really looking forward to more movies from the series. This is so far the best Hallmark movie of 2024. Really enjoyable.

Best New Mystery For Hallmark
arleneisenberg18 May 2024
I Loved The Cast straight away Chris McNally and Holland Roden are magical together great writing, excellent acting (loved the small main cast) I hate when theirs too many people to keep track of. Loved that the writers didn't pair off romantically or have Beeks n Maddie attracted to each other or even admire each other until the very end it gave the hidden admiration more depth. The Mystery clues were excellent I didn't figure it out until the last minute and the secondary stories were neatly intertwined that it kept the movie moving along rather interestingly enough plus they were well connected too really Hope Hallmark makes it a series.

ANNOYING and INSIPID
bellsauf-5749312 June 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I honestly don't understand all the enthusiastic 10-star ratings here. I can't remember the last time I yelled at the TV during a Hallmark film. I agree with many other viewers that the lead actress was hard to understand, to the point that we rewound several times to get what she was saying. But the worst part was watching her act as though she had the same authority as a detective. If I had worked years at my job and studied hard for the detective test, only to have my boss order me to take some squeaky interloper out with me on a murder investigation, I'd file a complaint, go to the union, try to transfer out, get my boss discredited and so forth. I thought there was hope when Chris McNally cuffed her for trespassing at the crime scene, which she could have mucked up with her meddling. Alas, like a booger you can't flick off your finger, she stuck around, even to the point of mirandizing the criminal, which I would tell my lawyer as proof of a botched police investigation that could maybe get me off the hook.

After suspending my disbelief that Aurora Teagarden wouldn't end up jailed and heavily fined for interfering in actual police business, I just can't do it anymore. It at least made sense with some mysteries where the lead actress was involved somehow, but these seriously need to stop being made.

ezebenme-9828120 May 2024
I loved this mystery movie! It was the best mystery movie I've seen on Hallmark! Great Cast! Especially Chris McNally! He's a phenomenal actor and I love every movie he has done. He can make any character he plays his own! I love watching him in movies! This movie was the perfect role for Chris! Holland Roden was a perfect leading lady for him. They were fantastic together. Great chemistry! This definitely needs to be a series! I really hope Hallmark makes it a series! It has all the feels, intrigue, suspense, humore, and a touch of attraction! We so need to see this couple together on our screens!

So disappointed
penrico-311168 June 2024
I was so looking forward to a new Hallmark movie, the previews looked great except I couldn't understand a word she was saying. She spoke fast. I don't know what she was trying to do with her voice, but I couldn't understand her at all, everybody else, yes. From reviews, I don't see where anybody else had a problem with it. Maybe it was just me. Storyline was great. I love, Chris. But Had to shut it off. What I don't understand is, don't they review a movie before they put it on look at it There have been a few of Hallmark movies with the Same problem. I wish I really had the patience to wait until the end, but I couldn't.

This movie was great . Great casting especially Chris McNally. I hope to see this become a series or at least another movie from Chris McNally he is just a joy to watch and these 2 are great together. It keep you going and they had great chemistry. I love they way they were with each other her a little kooky and him by the book detective who really cares . And they worked so well together to get this crime solved and she still never forgot about the cats case and he was aware of this young man who he wanted to help and keep helping him. It was a great combination of comedy and serious just loved it.

We Need More of Beeks and Maddie!
missymimzy24 May 2024
I'm a fan of Holland Roden since Teen Wolf and couldn't wait to watch this. Was blown away by how entertaining the story was, and the chemistry between her and Chris was fantastic.

They played off each other very well, and there was humor and suspense and majorly cute vibes. Was a little disappointed with how it ended--maybe because I was hoping there'd be more of those two getting together. Perhaps, this will turn into a series?

All the clues make sense (I kind of figured it out initially, thanks to a generous clue thrown in) but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy every bit of the investigation.

Garbage movie
heatherearl-4076922 June 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I had high hopes for this movie.

I made it through six minutes, and I had to turn it off the lead actress, talking with her mouth full and some stupid hat on her head, She left it & her coat on when she came back in from getting her dinner. Then she was digging into her sandwich as if it was the last meal she was going to ever have and then talking with her mouthful.

The hotel sequence at the start was pretty lame too changing the room number instead of asking the guest to move out was unbelievable.

I don't know if any police force on this planet that let's just casual comment every day. People know everything about the case.

Very entertaining. Great cast.
lil-011268 June 2024
Thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The banter between Chris McNally and Holland Rosen was wonderful. They played off each other very well. Very funny together.

The premise was great. I've always loved Chris in everything he's ever done, and this movie was no exception. How could you not love him? He's adorable and a very talented actor. Holland was positively charming. Loved her character. Jill Teed as the Captain was great. Cardi Wong as Officer Tran was also good.

I can definitely see this becoming a series. It was that good. Hopefully Hallmark is listening. The movie was trending on X most of the evening.

Decent Mystery
ecolombo-742-1375618 June 2024
Warning: Spoilers
For me, Chris McNally was the weakest link. I did not buy him as a detective. His acting choices didn't work for me. One example was standing with his hands on his hips. I've never known a real detective to do this, and those moments took me out of the story because I couldn't get on board with him being a real detective.

The story was well done for a Hallmark movie.

Holland Roden is new to me, but I thought she did a good job. I believed her passion for the tipline and crime solving. I'm also glad she was good at her jobs. I don't like watching the female lead be terrible at her job, which I've seen Hallmark do in some of their romantic movies.

Susan Hogan probably could have been used better, but I believed Amanda as the doer. She did a good job of seeming sketchy throughout.

Overall, it was not a waste of two hours, but I would have preferred a more believable male lead.

New Mystery Movie from Hallmark
gjackson-834398 June 2024
Loved the cast for this movie and the plot line.

Holland Roden and Chris McNally were fantastic. Loved both their characters and their on-screen interactions. Maddie was a little annoying in the beginning, but so likable and you could tell she was genuinely trying to help. Also, we got to see Chris McNally (Detective Beeks) in a different type of role than he has played in other Hallmark projects, which was fantastic.

The plot was good as it kept you guessing up to the very end and then threw in a curve ball that you might not have expected. I love a good mystery and I hate it when even I can figure out what is going on 30 minutes into the show. This movie delivered!

Kudos to the actors, writers, and directors who brought this movie to life. I hope there is more to come as I would like to see Maddie and Detective Beeks in another mystery.

Fantastic!

I love this movie and have watched it quite a few times already! Great story, great acting, great cinematography! It has a real police procedural feeling that goes beyond the usual Hallmark mystery. Chris McNally and Holland Roden are terrific as the leads and have great chemistry. Their banter is so funny and their serious discussions are heartwarming. I love how much they grow to respect and like each other by the end. There is an engaging mystery, lots of comedy, heartwarming interaction, and great action in this movie. I can't say enough good things about it...what a fun movie to watch...every time I see it!

Loved the mystery and both characters
janemadison-067429 June 2024
Chris mcnally was awesome. It was an excellent change from when calls the heart character. The story line was suspenseful and I enjoyed every minute of it. Can't wait to see what else Chris does. I hope this show becomes a series with these two awesome actors. Their chemistry was so good and brought excitement to the story. The female lead character was so cute and bubbly. She was a good match for Chris and brought authenticity to her role. The movie was a perfect fit for these two and I can't wait to see if these two do anything else together . Their acting made you want more and pulled the audience in.

A fresh and convincing mystery story!
iskvb8 June 2024
We really enjoyed the Tipline Mystery movie! So good and such a mystery! The person we suspected did not commit the crime!! The writer had us fooled!! Good job! But you have to watch to find out who did it. Maddie was really cute, quirky, and funny! We have watched Chris McNally through the years in Hallmark movies mainly When calls the Heart! This was a little different role for him! (Although his character has a mystery vibe in When Calls the Heart.) So sorry to say this was the first time for watching Holland in a movie. She is fresh and convincing! I would like to see the Tipline Mysteries continue and watch Chris and Holland's characters develop in a more personal way! Maybe his character cleans up and takes Maddie out to dinner on the premise he is trying to squeeze information from her...............

Tipline is excellent
prasmk9 June 2024
Acting leads Chris McNally and Holland (Teen Wolf) work really well together in their first movie together. A different kind role for Chris McNally for those who know him from his role as Lucas Bouchard on When Calls The Heart. This movie has lots of action, drama, humor, witty banter and a good mystery to solve. Highly recommend tuning into this mystery movie if you would like to see a hot newly promoted Dectective with his perky sidekick who is not a cop pull out all the stops to solve a spree of jewelry store heist in Detroit all with info from Maddie's job at the Detroit free press Tipline.

Great, except ...
PlaygroundGirl9 June 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I agree with the other reviews as to the actors, characters and plot. All were credible and enjoyable. The plot was, overall, clever and succeeded in not foreshadowing the deneument. The premise, however unlikely, wasn't entirely implausible but, as presented, there is a significant, perpetuated flaw. Fortunately, fixing it would be easy.

I'm not sure if the problem was in the story itself or the writing (I'm not sure exactly which).

SPOILER:

As an avowed crime show watcher, Maddie would know better than to show up at a crime scene by herself, not to disturb a crime scene, not to gather evidence (either as a non-cop or without a subpoena), and not to interview witnesses or suspects, and especially not after being told not to and to have been reminded more than once.
