In the parlance of the times, The Bear absolutely ate in the week of its third season premiere.
The FX-produced Hulu show had its biggest streaming week to date for the June 24-30 period. The Emmy-winning series, whose third season premiered June 27, racked up 1.23 billion minutes of viewing for the week — beating its previous high of 1.01 billion minutes shortly after its season two premiere last year.
The Bear was one of seven shows to score more than a billion minutes of viewing for the week, a rarity in the four-year history of Nielsen’s streaming rankings. Former Showtime series Your Honor continued its strong run, leading all titles with 1.58 billion minutes of viewing on Netflix and Paramount+. Another Showtime title, Dexter, saw its viewing rise by 84 percent from the previous week to 1.48 billion minutes.

The opening weekend of “The Bear” Season 3 saw impressive viewership on Hulu, though the FX series was outpaced by “Your Honor” and “Dexter.”
As “The Bear” debuted the entirety of its third season on Hulu on June 27, the Jeremy Allen White-led series tallied up 1.2 billion viewing minutes on Hulu between June 24-30, ranking as the week’s third overall most-watched streaming program. However, viewership for “The Bear” was surpassed by both “Your Honor” and “Dexter,” which scored 1.58 billion and 1.48 billion viewing minutes, respectively, across Paramount+ and Netflix.
Though “Your Honor” climbed to become the week’s most-watched streaming program, viewership fell slightly from the 1.95 billion viewing minutes it tallied up the previous week. Beginning on July 24, the Paris Olympics will measure athletic greatness in finite windows of time.
Noah Lyles will run 100 meters in comfortably under 10 seconds. It will take a bit longer — more than 15 minutes — for Katie Ledecky to swim 1,500 meters. French baller Victor Wembanyama will attempt to burnish his growing legend in 40-minute increments.
The NBCU family will, once again, trot out the usual assortment of retired jocks, veteran journalists and Snoop Dogg to offer the reminder that a sport isn’t just the game itself, but all of the storytelling that comes with it. Sports is entertainment, and in 2024, entertainment means television. This won’t surprise any small-screen obsessive; lately, “television” and “sports” have become frequently interchangeable terms.

And it’s hard work that isn’t always well-compensated. Though the members of the elite dance team are expected to fully dedicate themselves to the Cowboys organization, most also have to work a full-time job in order to make ends meet.

“I would say I’m making like a Chick-fil-a worker that works full time,” former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Katherine Puryear tells viewers during the first episode of Netflix’s latest docuseries hit America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.
The former professional cheerleader, a commentator throughout the series, offered the explanation after being asked point-blank how much she made during the gig, a topic of conversation throughout the episode. Last weekend, Puryear took to her TikTok page to expand on the discussion. (At the time of publishing, the video had over seven million views on TikTok.)
The video starts with the scene mentioned and an onscreen caption that says, “Clearing some things up,” with a blushing, hand-over-mouth emoji. “Ok, here’s my spiel,” Puryear begins before offering to break down her pay as a Cowboys cheerleader. She does, however, note that she can’t get into too many specifics.

Unfortunately, not every woman makes it through the team’s intense auditions process. Ari McClure moved to Dallas in the hopes of becoming a Cowboys cheerleader but ended up not being selected. However, she didn’t let that disappointment turn into a permanent setback – she’s since landed a spot cheering for another NFL team.

Season 3 of “Bridgerton” has officially joined the list of Netflix’s most popular titles of all time.
With a cumulative 91.9 million views since May 16 premiere, the season rank at No. 10 on the all time English-language TV chart, which Netflix measures based on views during each title’s first 91 days of streaming. This total was calculated on June 30, only 45 days after May 16, meaning the season can — and will — continue to climb higher.
Not only did “Bridgerton” Season 3 achieve all-time status quickly — it could have done so even quicker. Because the season was released in two segments, it wasn’t eligible for the Most Popular list until after June 13, when the final four episodes were released, at which point its viewership total was reset, as Netflix calculates views by dividing total stream time by runtime. But by June 9, the first four episodes had hit 88.9 views on their own, which at the time...

With 1 billion minutes watched, “Bridgerton” Season 3 was the most-watched streaming original of the week of June 21-27, which marked the final four episodes’ second full week of availability. The achievement was unsurprising, as the Shonda Rhimes-produced Netflix drama has been dominating Luminate’s charts (as well as Nielsen’s and Netflix’s own) since the first four episodes of Season 3 were released in May. Once again, both previous seasons continued to chart, with Season 2 in eighth place and Season 1 at the bottom.
Making a strong debut on the chart was “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders,” a Netflix docuseries that was watched for 687 million minutes in its first full week of availability. Spoiler Warning: This interview discusses plot points from “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders,” now streaming on Netflix.
Last Thanksgiving, Greg Whiteley was on the sidelines at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas as the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders put on an electrifying halftime show with special guest, country music icon Dolly Parton.
The Emmy-winning documentarian, best known for “Cheer” and “Last Chance U,” and his crew had been filming into the wee hours the night before, as workers put the finishing touches on Parton’s stage (which had to be assembled in a way that it could be torn down in a matter of minutes for the game to resume) and the cheerleaders made last-minute tweaks to their formations.
“The cheerleaders get 15 minutes of uninterrupted prime-time coverage. It’s a huge deal. No other cheerleading squad gets this, and they get it every year, so they take it seriously,” Whiteley tells Variety.

Kelli Finglass’s voice is the first one you hear in America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, the new seven-episode docuseries from Cheer creator Greg Whiteley. It’s not her inside voice, either — like she’s done countless times before, the longtime director of the squad is corralling her team backstage before a halftime show.
“Ok y’all, are we ready?” Finglass shouts from off-screen. “Yes ma’am,” the group dutifully answers. “Listen up!” Finglass says, increasing her volume by just the right number of decibels to let you know she means business. Her tone implies that what’s coming could be a series of last-minute corrections or a full-blown dressing down. But then her voice softens.
“I just want to remind y’all that you are known as world-famous, the best in the business … how hard y’all worked to get here. You’re going to perform like you practice.

Led by longtime director Kelli Finglass and head choreographer Judy Trammell, Dcc hopefuls go through a rigorous audition process: Hundreds of skilled dancers apply each year, and both rookies and veterans go through the same audition process each season. The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are headed to Netflix! The new series, America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, will chronicle the squad, led by director Kelli Finglass and choreographer Judy Trammell, from the start of the season to the very end. Fans will recall the beloved series, Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team, which ran from 2006 to 2021 on CMT and chronicled the Dcc audition process. TV Insider spoke with Finglass, Trammell, and current cheerleaders about how the Netflix series differs from the CMT one. “There are big differences,” Finglass said. “It’s mainly access. The show has access to the personal lives of the cheerleaders. It’s not scripted when they’re following Reece [Weaver], Kelcey [Wetterberg], and Victoria [Kalina], and we’re not involved. Maybe the girls are more comfortable talking about their personal lives, their personal victories, personal struggles, and it doesn’t just stop at the auditions.” She added, “We...

Are you optimistic about the Dallas Cowboys 2024 NFL season? Well, recent history suggests you probably shouldn’t be. (Giants fan over here.) But there is something exciting leading in to the summer’s training camp: a new cheerleading docuseries from director Greg Whiteley, the man behind Netflix’s “Cheer” and “Last Chance U.”
“America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders,” a collection of seven 45-minute episodes, will follow the 2023-24 squad (last season’s team) from start to finish — meaning from their auditions to the team’s inevitable late-regular-season or early-post-season collapse. The cheerleaders are led by their longtime director Kelli Finglass.
The docuseries, which is definitely not “Cheer” Season 3 (except it definitely should be), premieres on June 20 on Netflix.
Whiteley executive produces alongside Adam Leibowitz for One Potato Productions; Andrew Fried and Dane Lillegard of Boardwalk Pictures and Ross M. Dinerstein and Rebecca Evans of Campfire Studios also executive produce for their respective companies.
